The loss also gave the two schools nine wins in their annual Matte Award competition to end the year in a tie. However, the Cougars would out-score Moravian 4-1 in the second quarter and 5-1 in the third for a 12-6 lead with 15 minutes to play. However, the Royals out scored the Greyhounds 4-0 in the second quarter to take a 6-3 halftime lead with Sranton's final goal of the half coming with one second left on a goal by Doug Homan. The Royals had a 4-3 advantage in the third quarter to lead 10-6 with 15 minutes remaining. The Greyhounds would out score Scranton, 3-2, in the fourth quarter with a pair of man-up goals. The Blue Jays jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter before Moravian ran of four straight goals with two by freshman midfielder Robert Devine to lead 4-2 after 15 minutes of action. The Greyhounds also score the first goal of the second quarter for a 5-2 lead before Elizabethtown scored twice to cut the Moravian lead to 5-4. The Greyhounds responded with three more goals in a row including two by Tosches to take their largest lead of the game at 8-4. The Blue Jays would get two of those goals back before halftime which saw Moravian holding an 8-6 lead. Elizabethtown scored first in the third quarter and then two more times including once with a man-down after a Greyhound score to tie the match at 9-9 after 45 minutes. The Blue Jays would score twice to start the final quarter only to have Tosches and Devine score and tie the match again at 11-11 with 5:52 to play. Just seven seconds later, Elizabethtown was back in the lead as midfielder Jon Day won a face-off and scored immediately. Devine would tie the contest again with 3:52 remaining on a man-up goal. In the overtime session, Tosches took a pass from junior defender Steven Carroll on a Moravian clear and put the ball in the upper portion of the net from the left side of the field. The Green Terror jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and lead 11-0 at halftime. McDaniel would score a total of 16 goals before Moravian got on the scoreboard with 2:32 remaining in the third quarter on an unassisted goal by freshman attack Christopher Mohapp. Junior attack Jason Tosches added a man-up goal for the Greyhounds in the third quarter before freshman midfielder David Forte netted an unassisted goal in the fourth. McDaniel had a 64-18 advantage in shots, a 48-30 edge in ground balls and won 15 of 28 faceoffs against the Greyhounds, who were playing without four starters due to injury. Matt Buschman led the Green Terror with five goals and an assist while Gibbs Preston had a game high eight points on four goals and four assists. Moravian earned its first win of the 2008 season, defeating local rival DeSales University, 8-7, in a non-conference match at Rocco Calvo Field. The Greyhounds scored first on a goal by freshman midfielder Robert Devine just 1:54 into the first quarter. However, the Bulldogs ran off four straight goals and led 5-3 after the first quarter. Each team would score once in the second quarter to head to halftime with DeSales leading, 6-4. The Bulldogs also won 14 of 22 faceoffs. Devine, Mohapp, Cleaver and junior attack Keith Danner all netted two goals for the Greyhounds with Devine adding two assists. Mohapp, who scored a man-up goal for the Greyhounds, also had an assist as did sophomore midfielder Cruz Sierra. Moravian freshman goalie Benjamin Leavy, making his first career start, had 14 saves and five ground balls in the victory. Junior defender Steven Carroll led the Greyhounds with six ground balls while Sierra scooped up five ground balls. Matthew Kruzewski led DeSales with three goals while Jay Young and Whit Bruemmer each found the back of the cage twice. Matthew Brancaccio added two assists for the Bulldogs while Donald Clemens had one assist. Jarryd Stamatelos had ten saves for DeSales while Shane Corley won 13 of 15 faceoffs and had a team high seven ground balls.

The Greyhounds started their 2008 season with a 17-2 non-conference loss to Ursinus College at Rocco Calvo Field. The Bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter before Moravian freshman attack Christopher Mohapp netted the Greyhounds' first goal of the season. Moravian's other tally came in the fourth quarter when freshman attack David Bennett found the back of the cage with a man-up goal off of a pass from Mohapp. Ursinus had a 45-25 advantage in shots, a 46-27 edge in ground balls and won 13 of 22 face-offs in the match. Freshman midfielder Robert Devine had four ground balls and won six of 14 face-offs for the Greyhounds. Junior goalie Benjamin Larson had a team high five ground balls and had made five saves before leaving the game with an injury with 8:17 to play in the second quarter. Freshman keeper Benjamin Leavy finished in goal for the Greyhounds and had 11 saves in his first collegiate action. Sophomore attack Pat Nagle led the Bears with three goals and an assist for four points while senior midfielder Dane Mangin and junior attack Jason Patterson each had five points on two goals and three assists for Ursinus. Junior goalie Tony Aquilino and freshman keeper Jake Hubble each played 30 minutes for Ursinus and each goalie had six saves.
