2009 Review

The Moravian College men’s soccer team finished the 2009 season with a 4-11-2 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the Landmark Conference. The Greyhounds were under the direction of first-year head coach Todd Ervin.

Leading the Greyhounds was sophomore forward Taylor Molinaro (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS) with five goals for a total of ten points. Senior midfielder/defender Blake Ritchey (Harleysville, PA/Souderton HS) contributed four goals for eight points while freshman forward/midfielder John Pavia (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan HS) added two goals for four points. Ritchey was named to the 2009 Landmark Men’s Soccer All-Conference Second Team in his last year as a Greyhound.

Senior forward Kyle Jablon (Blaristown, NJ/North Warren HS), picutred right, and sophomore defender Mike Dobbins (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) each netted one goal to go along with one assist for a total of three points while senior defender Alexander Kulp (Wyncote, PA/Roman Catholic HS) also contributed a goal and an assist.

Also adding a goal for the Greyhounds were senior midfielder Evan Outlaw (Zion Grove, PA/Pleasant Valley HS), sophomore midfielder Mark Casagrande (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Saint Rose HS), and freshman forward Nick Desiderio (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood). Senior midfielder Mike Tarulli (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin HS), pictured below, contributed one assist in his final season for Moravian.

Junior goalie Tim Dollarton (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township HS) played 1,076 minutes in goal this season for the Greyhounds while earning a 2.09 goals-against average with 60 saves, three shutouts, and a 4-8 record. Junior goalie Bryant White (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) saw 474 minutes of action with a goals-against average of 2.46, 28 saves, one shutout, and a 0-3-2 record while freshman goalie Mike Brand (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS) saw 19 minutes in goal.

Other players contributing this fall was senior midfielder Brian Hunscher (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Pioneer HS), juniors forward Chris Walsh (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore HS) and defender Tim Smetana (Harvard, MA/The Bromfield School), and freshman midfielder Nick Hurff (Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep HS).

Ritchey earned a spot on the 2009 Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team, and he was also named to the 2009 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll along with Jablon, Outlaw, Dollarton, Hunscher, Walsh, White and Dobbins.
