Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed her third shutout of the tournament to lead Moravian to the inaugural Landmark Conference title with a 7-0 win over third seeded The Catholic University of America in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament at Moravian’s Blue & Grey Field Saturday afternoon.
The top seeded Greyhounds, who have won eight consecutive games and 27 of their last 28 contests, improve to 33-6 on the season and will now wait until Sunday night to find out if the program has earned its 11th straight berth in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Moravian is vying for one of five Pool B independent bids.
Moravian would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior outfielder Megan Ritchey singled to lead off the inning. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano followed with a sacrifice bunt but an error allowed Ritchey to move to third and Falzarano to be safe. Another Catholic throwing error on the play let Ritchey come home while Falzarano moved to second base.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to 4-0 with three runs in the second inning. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek singled up the middle to lead off and moved to second on an error on a ball hit by junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz. Freshman third baseman Maura Agnew drew a walk to load the bases. Junior catcher Deanna Mangieri followed with an RBI ground out to score Bieniek. Freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus then hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Klepeisz. Agnew would score the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.
Moravian scored again in the bottom of the third inning for a 5-0 lead. Senior second baseman Beth Paly singled to center field to lead off the stanza and eventually scored on a two-out RBI single by Klepeisz.
The Greyhounds added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to build a 7-0 lead. Mangieri singled with one out and senior pinch hitter Kelly Santry hit a single to put two runners on. Paulus re-entered the game to run for Santry, who was sitting out the tournament with an injury but got an at-bat in her final home game. Ritchey followed with a two-RBI double to right field, scoring Mangieri and Paulus.
Moravian had nine hits in the game with Ritchey going a perfect three-for-three and Paly adding two hits. The Cardinals had just three hits.
DeBonis, who is now 19-3 on the season, allowed three hits and a walk while striking out eight batters. DeBonis threw three shutouts in the tournament with 32 strikeouts in 19 innings of action.
Sophomore Stephanie Clemente started in the circle for Catholic, allowing seven runs, only four earned, on eight hits and a walk with one strikeout in 3 1/3 innings. Sophomore Stacie Goddard gave up a hit and three walks in 2 2/3 innings of action.

Moravian junior pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed her second shutout of the day and added a three-run homer to lead the top seeded Greyhounds to an 8-0, five-inning victory over second seed The University of Scranton in a winner’s bracket game of the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field.
The host Greyhounds, who have won seven straight games, move to 32-6 on the year and into the championship game on Saturday, May 3rd at 1:00 p.m. while the Royals, who are now 27-13, will play in the final elimination game at 11:00 a.m. Third seeded The Catholic University of America and fourth seed Drew University will begin the day in the first elimination game at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
DeBonis, who had a two-hit shutout in Moravian’s first game of the day, allowed just three hits, all singles, and walked one batter while striking out ten Royals to improve to 18-3 on the season, her second straight season with 18 victories.
Moravian jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior outfielder Megan Ritchey led off with a single off of the pitcher’s glove and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano. Senior second baseman Beth Paly singled to right field bringing up DeBonis. DeBonis connected on a three-run home run, her team leading sixth homer of the season, to left field. After another out, junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz reached on a bunt single just a few feet in front of the plate. Klepeisz stole second base and scored on an RBI triple to right centerfield by freshman third baseman Maura Agnew.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the second inning. After an out to lead off the stanza, Ritchey connected on a solo home run to dead centerfield, her third homer of the season.
Moravian added a run in the bottom of the third inning to build a 6-0 lead. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek led off the inning with a solo home run to center field, her second homer of the season.
The Greyhounds scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to institute the NCAA eight-run mercy rule and end the game. DeBonis led off with a single through the left side and moved to third on a double by freshman first baseman Jennifer Schmitt. Klepeisz would end the contest with a two-RBI double to right centerfield scoring DeBonis and Schmitt.
Moravian had 13 hits in the game with DeBonis, Ritchey and Klepeisz each going two-for-three and Agnew going two-for-two. The Greyhounds’ three homers tied a single game high for the season. Scranton had three hits with singles by senior Erin Moreau, junior Molly Matyas and freshman Nikki Malloy.
Freshman Kasey Borbidge started in the circle for the Royals and took the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits in two-plus innings of action. Junior Isabel Mendez finished off the game for Scranton with two runs on five hits in two-plus innings of work.

Moravian junior pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed a two-hit shutout with a career high 14 strikeouts, and she drove in the winning run as the top seeded Greyhounds defeated fourth seed Drew University, 2-0, in the first game of the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament in Bethlehem.
Moravian advanced to a winner’s bracket game at 3:00 p.m. against the winner of the other first round game between second seed The University of Scranton and third seed The Catholic University of America. The Rangers will play in the first game on Saturday, May 3rd at 9:00 a.m. against the loser of the second game.
DeBonis and Drew pitcher, junior Lauren Collini engaged in a pitcher’s duel through five and a half innings before the Greyhounds scored both of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Moravian freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano led off the inning with a ground ball back at Collini, whose throw to first base was high allowing Falzarano to reach first safely. On the next pitch, Collini stopped her motion allowing Falzarano to move to second base on an illegal pitch.
Greyhound senior second baseman Beth Paly followed with a sacrifice bunt to third base, moving Falzarano to third base. DeBonis then hit an RBI single up the middle to drive in Falzarano with the winning run. After an out, Moravian junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz hit an RBI triple to dead centerfield, scoring DeBonis.
Moravian had just five hits in the game with DeBonis going two-for-two. In the circle, DeBonis did not allow a walk while facing just two batters over the minimum.
Freshman Jillian Lusk had both of Drew’s hits with singles in the 2nd and 5th innings. Collini had five strikeouts and allowed just one walk and a pair of unearned runs in the circle.

The Greyhounds completed an undefeated Landmark Conference season with a 4-0 victory over Drew University in the second game of a conference twinbill at Blue & Grey Field. The doubleheader sweep was Moravian's 13th of the season and extended the team's current winning streak to five straight games. The Greyhounds also reached the 30-win plateau for the seventh straight season as the team improved to 30-6 on the year.
Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python improved to 14-3 in the circle this season for Moravian, allowing just three hits and striking out a season high nine batters in the victory.
Moravian would get all of its offense in the third inning when the Greyhounds scored four times with two outs. Freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus singled with two outs and scored on an RBI duoble by senior outfielder Megan Ritchey, who advnaced to third on the throw home. Ritchey then scored on a Drew error on a ball hit by freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano. After Falzarano stole second and moved to third a throwing error, Moravian senior second baseman Beth Paly hit an RBI single to score Falzarano. Paly eventually scored on an RBI single by junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek.
The Greyhounds had seven hits in the game with Bieniek going two-for-three. The Rangers had three hits in the contest with two off the bat of Cailin McGrorry. Drew used three pitchers in the game with Alexandra Aarons suffering the loss.

Moravian opened its final doubleheader of the 2008 regular season with a 2-0 victory over Drew University in Landmark Conference action at Blue & Grey Field behind the third parfect game of the season by Greyhound junior pitcher Maria DeBonis. DeBonis faced the minimum 21 batters in her fourth no-hitter of the year, and she struck out nine batters.
The Greyhounds would get all of the offense DeBonis needed in the bottom of the third inning. Junior catcher Deanna Mangieri reached on an error to start the inning and then scored on a one-out, two-run home run to center field by senior outfielder Megan Ritchey. The homer was Ritchey's second of the season. Moravian had just three hits with singles by senior third baseman Kelly Santry, who left the game in the fourth inning with an injury, and junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek to go with Ritchey's homer.
Lauren Collini went the distance in the circle for the Rangers, allowing two runs, just one earned, on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Freshman outfielder Maura Agnew hit a one-out double and scored on a Swarthmore throwing error on a ball hit by senior second baseman Beth Paly.
Moravian scored three times in the top of the third inning to build a 4-0 lead. Agnew hit a single with one out while junior pitcher Maria DeBonis would draw a two-out walk setting up a two-RBI double by senior third baseman Kelly Santry. Junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz followed with an RBI double to score Santry.
Swarthmore scored its only run of the doubleheader in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Krista Scheirer, one of five hits in the game for Swarthmore.
The Greyhounds would score three more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman Amanda Paulus singled to lead off the inning and scored on a one-out, two-run home run by Agnew, her third homer of the season. Klepeiz added an RBI single later in the inning to score DeBonis, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Moravian had 12 hits in the game with Agnew and Klepeisz each going three-for-four. Santry was two-for-four while freshman first baseman Jennifer Schmitt.
DeBonis earned her second win of the doubleheader, allowing a run on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Alexandra Zelaski took the loss in the circle for Swarthmore.

Mangieri was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice by freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano before senior outfielder Megan Ritchey hit an RBI single to score Schmitt. Senior second baseman Beth Paly hit a ground ball that everyone was safe on and scored Paulus. DeBonis hit an RBI single to score Falzarano while Santry hit an RBI fielder's choice scoring Ritchey. Klepeisz drove in the final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly that scored Paly.
Moravian would add a run in the top of the seventh inning when sophomore pinch hitter Danielle Massa singled, Klepeisz singled and Mangieri connected on an RBI double. The Greyhounds had 11 hits in the game with Klepeisz going two-for-three while Mangieri was two-for-four. Kathryn Riley went the distance in the cricle for Swarthmore.

The Greyhounds bounced back from their first loss in a month and earned a split of a non-conference doubleheader with DeSales University at Blue & Grey Field, winning the second game, 1-0, behind a three-hitter by junior Maria DeBonis.
DeBonis went the distance in the circle for Moravian despite being listed as the designated player on the line-up card. Freshman Amie Ballo technically gets the start for being listed as a startnig pitcher but Moravian used the flex rule to have DeBonis pitch the game. DeBonis is now 13-3 on the season after giving up three hits and a pair of walks while striking out seven in the victory.
DeBonis gave herself a lead in the bottom of the first inning when Moravian scored the only run of the game. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano led off with a single but was out at second base on a fielder's choice hit by senior outfielder Megan Ritchey. Senior second baseman Beth Paly followed with a single to extend her hitting streak to 18 games, the second longest streak in school history, and move Ritchey to third base. DeBonis then hit an RBI ground out to chase Ritchey home with the winning run.
Moravian had six hits in the contest with Paly going two-for-three. Paly is 33-for-64, a .516 average, during her streak with 12 multiple hit games.
Freshman Jen Lococo took the loss in the circle for DeSales, allowing a run on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a solo home run by junior Kelly Moran, her sixth homer of the season.
DeSales scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to build a 4-0 lead. The first run of the inning scored when junior pinch runner Emily Remaly scored on a Moravian error. Junior Amanda Kensecki then had a two-RBI single for the Bulldogs.
DeSales extended its lead to 6-0 in the top of the sixth inning on a two-out, two-RBI double by junior Maddie Roxandich. The Bulldogs finished with ten hits in the game with Kensecki and Roxandich each going two-for-four and freshman Meghan Callahan going two-for-two.
The Greyhounds would get onto the scoreboard in the bottom half of the sixth inning. Senior second baseman Beth Paly singled with one out to extend her hitting streak to 17 straight games, and scored on an RBI double from junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek. Moravian had seven hits in the contest with junior catcher Deanna Mangieri going two-for-three.
Sophomore Kristen Cybularz earned the victory in the circle for DeSales, allowing a run on seven hits with one strikeout. Moravian freshman Elizabeth Python suffered just her third loss of the season, giving up six runs on ten hits and two walks while striking out five batters.

The Greyhounds earned the top seed in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 9-1 victory over Susquehanna University in the second game of a conference doubleheader. The victory was Moravian's 19th in a row and the team's ninth straight doubleheader sweep. The Greyhounds will now be the host of the inaugural Landmark Conference Tournament on May 2nd and 3rd.
Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior third baseman Kelly Santry. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek followed with an RBI double.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to 4-0 with three more runs in the top of the third inning. Susquehanna scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning when Canielle McCann walked moved to third on a Moravian error and scored on a passed ball.
The Greyhounds finished off the scoring with three runs in the top of the seventh inning. Paly reached on an error to start the inning, and DeBonis followed with an RBI double scoring Paly. DeBonis would steal third base and then score on an RBI single from Santry. Santry would eventually score on a sacrifice fly by junior catcher Deanna Mangieri.
Moravian had ten hits in the game with Santry going three-for-three with three RBIs and DeBonis going two-for-two with four runs scored and two RBIs. The Crusaders had four hits in the contest with two by Gretchen Halsey.
DeBonis earned her second win of the doubleheader in the circle, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing an unearned run on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters. Freshman Elizabeth Python came in to strike out the final batter of the game. Cara Swerdlow gave up nine runs, eight of them earned, on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts for Susquehanna.

Senior second baseman Beth Paly singled to move Falzarano to third base. Junior designated player/pitcher Maria DeBonis then reached on an error that allowed Falzarano to score.
The Crusaders would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-out, RBI triple by Laurie Blaska, that scored pinch runner Katie Connors. Connors had entered the game after a double by Kelli Holota to lead off the seventh inning.
Moravian would score twice in the top of the ninth inning for the win. Senior third baseman Kelly Santry led off with a single and moved to second on an error in the Susquehanna outfield. After a sacrifice bunt by junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek moved Santry to third and another out, senior catcher Deanna Mangieri connected on a two-run home run, her first of the season.

DeBonis came into the circle in the bottom of the seventh inning and allowed two hits while striking out three batters to earn her 11th victory of the season. The three strikeouts gave DeBonis 300 for her career, just the third pitcher in school history to reach the 300-career strikeout plateau. Cara Swerdlow took the loss for Susquehanna, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out 11 batters.

Moravian now has a two-game lead in the conference standings and needs to win just two of its final four Landmark Conference games to clinch the top seed and host the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament.
The Royals would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Mary Beth Vogel singled to left-field and freshman Annie Zeleniak followed with a two-run home run to left-center field with two outs.
Moravian would rally for three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead. Senior second baseman Beth Paly led off the inning with a single to center field and advanced to second on an infield single by senior third baseman Kelly Santry. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek then hit a one-out single to left-field that advanced Paly to third and Santry to second, but each runner moved up a base on an error allowing Paly to score. Junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz then hit her third double of the doubleheader to left center field to score Santy and Bieniek and give the Greyhounds the lead.
Scranton would have a chance to take the lead back in the sixth inning but Paly snared a line drive over her shoulder at second base to end the inning. The Royals had nine hits in the game with Zeleniak going three-for-four and Vogel adding two hits. Moravian had just six hits in the contest with two by Paly.
Junior pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis would earn her tenth win of the season in the circle, tossing five innings of scoreless relief with four hits and two walks allowed. DeBonis also struck out eight batters. Freshman Elizabeth Python started for the Greyhounds, allowing two runs on five hits and two strikeouts in the first two innings. Kasey Borbidge struck out three batters while allowing six hits and three runs, two of them earned runs.

Moravian captured its 16th straight victory and moved into sole possession of first place in the Landmark Conference with an 11-0, six-inning victory over The University of Scranton behind a perfect game from freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python. The perfect game was the first of Python's career, and the Greyhounds' third of the season. It was also Python's second no-hitter of the season and her seventh shutout of the year. The closest Python, who is now 13-2 on the year, would come to allowing a hit was in the first inning when freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus threw out Scranton's Erin Moreau at first base on a solid hit ball to right field.

Moravian scored a run in the top of the fifth inning for a 6-0 lead. Paly and Santry led off with back-to-back singles before a sacrifice bunt by Santry. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek followed with an RBI single to score Paly.
The Greyhounds would score five times in the top of the sixth inning to institute the NCAA eight-run rule. Paulus and Falzarano each had hits to lead off the inning; however, Paulus was thrown out at third. After a walk by Ritchey, Paly connected on an RBI double to score Falzarano. DeBonis then hit an RBI single to score Ritchey while Santry had an RBI single to score Paly. Sophomore Katie Flood came in to pinch run for DeBonis before a two-RBI double by Klepeisz finished off the scoring.
Moravian had a season high 18 hits in the victory. Ritchey was three-for-three with two doubles in the game while DeBonis went three-for-four. Paulus was a perfect two-for-two while Santry was two-for-three with three RBIs and her home run. Falzarano, Paly and Klepeisz each had two-for-four games with Klepeisz hitting two doubles.

The Greyhounds swept their seventh straight doubleheader, taking the second game of a Landmark Conference twinbill from The Catholic University of America, 14-3 in five innings, at Blue & Grey Field. The win also kept Moravian undefeated in its inaugural Landmark Conference season at 6-0.
The Cardinals would score their three runs in the top of the first inning to take a quick 3-0 lead. Kat Ager was hit by pitch with two outs and a single by Kerry Convery set up a three-run home run by Lynn Brown for Catholic.
Moravian would respond with seven runs in its half of the first inning to take a 7-3 lead. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano walked to lead off the inning and senior outfielder Megan Ritchey followed with a single. Senior catcher Beth Paly reached on an error to score Falzarano. After an out, senior third baseman Kelly Santry hit an RBI single and junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek followed with a two-RBI double to put the Greyhounds in front. After another out, junior second baseman Katie Agnew hit an RBI double to score Bieniek, and freshman Amanda Paulus connected on an RBI single. Falzarano would come to the plate again an hit an RBI single to finish off the scoring.
The Greyhounds would add four runs to their lead in the bottom of the second inning for an 11-3 advantage. Paly and junior designated player Maria DeBonis would single before Santry laid down a sacrifice bunt. After another out, freshman outfielder Maura Agnew hit a two RBI double to score Paly and DeBonis before Katie Agnew hit her second RBI double of the game. Paulus added an RBI single to score Katie Agnew to end the inning.
Moravian finished off the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Freshman pinch hitter Megan Boyle was hit by a pitch to lead off. After Paly reached on a fielder's choice, DeBonis walked and Bieniek was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Maura Agnew would clear the bases with a three-RBI double.
The Greyhounds had 12 hits in the game with Paulus going two-for-two and Katie Agnew and Maura Agnew each going two-for-three. Catholic had six hits in the contest.
Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python earned her second win of the doubleheader in the circle for Moravian and her 11th in a row after allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four batters. Python is now 12-2 on the season. The Cardinals used a pair of pitchers with Stephanie Clemente taking the loss after pitching 2 1/3 innings with 13 runs allowed, nine of them earned, on 11 hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Moravian won its 14th straight game and remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action with a 7-3 victory over The Catholic University of America in the first game of a conference twinbill at Blue & Grey Field. The win also gave Moravian 20 victories for the season, the 15th consecutive year the Greyhounds have won at least 20 games under the direction of head coach John Byrne, who is also in his 15th season.
The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano drew a walk to lead off the inning before junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz hit a single up the middle. After a pair of pop outs, senior third baseman Kelly Santry drew a walk to load the bases before junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek drew a walk to push Falzarano home.
The Cardinals would score three times in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Pitcher Stacie Goddard hit an RBI double to tie the game at 1-1 with the other two runs coming home on a Moravian error.
Moravian responded with four runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to retake the lead at 5-3. Senior outfielder Megan Ritchey connected on her first home run of the season with one out, a solo shot to center field. Freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus then walked and moved to second on a two-out single by Klepeisz. Paly would hit an RBI single to score Paulus with the tying run and Klepeisz would come around to score on the play as the Cardinal outfield attempted to throw Paly out at first. Junior designated player/pitcher Maria DeBonis then hit an RBI single to score Paly.
The Greyhounds added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 6-3. Ritchey walked with one out and moved to third on an error that alloed Falzarano to reach base. Another Catholic error would allow Ritchey to score. Moravian finished off the scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning when DeBonis hit her team leading fourth home run of the season, a solo shot to right field with one out.
Moravian had seven hits in the game with DeBonis going two-for-three and both Paly and Klepeisz turning in two-for-four performances. The Cardinals had six hits with two by designated player Lynn Brown.
DeBonis started in the circle for the Greyhounds, allowing three runs, just one earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings of action. Freshman Elizabeth Python would come on to earn her 11th victory of the season, her tenth in a row, allowing just two hits and striking out three batters in 3 1/3 innings. The Greyhounds swept their sixth straight doubleheader and ran their winning streak to 13 consecutive games with a 4-3 victory in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader at rival Muhlenberg College. Moravian held off a seventh inning rally by the Mules that saw Muhlenberg score all three of its runs. The three runs ended Greyhound freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python's school record consecutive scoreless inning streak at 45 innings.
Moravian would take a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Senior second baseman Beth Paly led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a double by junior designated player Maria DeBonis. Senior third baseman Kelly Santry followed with an RBI single to score Paly. Both DeBonis and Santry were thrown out at the plate during the inning before junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek, who had reached on a fielder's choice when DeBonis was out at the plate, finally scored on a Muhlenberg error off of a ball hit by senior outfielder Megan Ritchey.
The Greyhounds added a run in the top of the fifth inning to build a 3-0 lead. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano led off the fifth with a single up the middle and came around to score on a two-out RBI single up the middle by DeBonis. Moravian scored what ended up being the winning run in the top of the sixth inning for a 4-0 lead at the time. Freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus reached on a two-out single, and then she stole second base, moving to third on an error. Paulus scored on another Mule error on a ball hit by Falzarano.
Muhlenberg would push three runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning and have the tying run at second base when the game ended. The Mules scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by Alyssa D'Addio and a two-RBI double by Ashley Brewer.
The Mules had nine hits in the game with Brewer going three-for-four. RiRi Ferrigno and Allie Saltstein each had two hits for Muhlenberg. The Greyhounds had eight hits for the second straight game with DeBonis and Santry each going two-for-four.
Python improved to 10-2 in the circle this spring with the victory despite having her school record scoreless inning streak snapped at 45 innings. She allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three batters. Brewer took the loss for Muhlenberg, allowing four runs, only two earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts.

Moravian opened a non-conference doubleheader at rival Muhlenberg College with a 7-5 come-from-behind victory to extend the Greyhounds winning streak to 12 straight games. The Mules scored the first five runs of the game before Moravian plated seven runs in the top of the fifth inning for the victory.
Muhlenberg would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when Samantha Crist singled with two outs and moved around the bases on three Moravian errors. The Mules added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Jess Kasza and a three-RBI double by Ashley Brewer afther the Greyhounds' fourth error of the game extended the inning with two outs.
The Greyhounds sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the fifth inning as Moravian took the lead with seven runs. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek led of the inning with a single and moved to third on a one-out double by senior outfielder Megan Ritchey. Freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus scored on a Muhlenberg error, allowing Bieniek to score, and Ritchey scored on an RBI infield single by junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz. Senior designated hitter/second baseman Beth Paly then hit an RBI single to score freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis then tied the game with a two-RBI double to score Klepeisz and Paly, and DeBonis crossed the plate with what ended up being the winning run on an RBI single by senior infielder Kelly Santry. Freshmen pitcher Elizabeth Python and Amie Ballo combined on a two-hit shutout for Moravian. Python improved to 9-2 on the season, allowing a walk and striking out three batters in three innings of action while Ballo gave up two hits and struck out two batters in her first two innings of action on the season.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano led off the game with an infield single, and junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz reached on an error. Senior second baseman Beth Paly would single to left field, setting up junior designated player Maria DeBonis with the bases loaded. DeBonis responded with a grand slam home run to right centerfield, her third homer of the season.

The twinbill was added to the schedule since both schools lost games due to opponents needing to make up conference games.
The shutout was the second straight for Moravian and ninth in the last ten games. Junior Maria DeBonis improved to 8-3 in the circle with her sixth shutout of the season. She allowed four hits and three walks while striking out ten batters in the game.
The Greyhounds would give DeBonis all of the offense she needed before she even hit the circle with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz walked with one out and scored on an RBI double from senior designated player Beth Paly. Paly then scored on an Aggie error on a ball hit by senior second baseman Kelly Santry.
Moravian added three runs in the top of the fourth inning to build a 5-0 lead. Santry led off with a walk and moved to second on a Delaware Valley error on a ball off of DeBonis' bat. The Greyhounds swept their fourth straight doubleheader and remained undefeated in the inaugural Landmark Conference season with a 10-0, five-inning victory over Juniata College at Blue & Grey Field. The win was the ninth straight for the Greyhounds and eight have been by shutout.
Freshman Elizabeth Python improved to 8-2 in the circle this season for Moravian, allowing just two hits and striking out four batters in her fifth straight shutout. The Greyhounds gave Python all of the offense she needed with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Senior shortstop Beth Paly singled with two outs and moved to second on a wild pitch. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek followed with an RBI double to left centerfield, and Bieniek would score from second on a Juniata throwing error on a ball hit by junior designated player Maria DeBonis.
Moravian extended its lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning with four more runs. Junior catcher Deanna Mangieri reached on an erro by the Eagles before freshman third baseman Maura Agnew singled. Freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus walked to load the bases, and then freshman outfielder Stephanie Falzarano reached on a fielder's choice on which everyone was safe and Mangieri scored. Junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz hit a two-RBI single to score Agnew and Paulus before Paly hit a ball off of the pitchers glove to score Falzarano.
The Greyhounds pushed three more runs across the plate in the bottom of the third inning for a 9-0 lead. The Greyhounds had 11 hits in the game with Klepeisz and Paly each going two-for-three. Pam Mansell suffered the loss for the Eagles in the circle, allowing ten runs, seven of them earned on 11 hits and three walks.

Juniata would score a run on the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Denalyn Spratt. That run was the first Moravian had allowed in eight games, a span of 47 innings.
Moravian would get the run back in the bottom half of the second inning when senior outfielder Megan Ritchey walked, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by senior designated player Beth Paly. Moravian has postponed its Landmark Conference doubleheader with Juniata College for one day, moving the doubleheader from Saturday, April 5th to Sunday, April 6th at 1:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem. The switch was made due to field conditions and expected rain on Saturday.
At Albright College

The Greyhounds swept their third straight doubleheader and their seventh game in a row overall behind the first career no-hitter by freshman Elizabeth Python as Moravian defeated Albright College, 9-0 in five innings, in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader. The victory was Moravian's seventh straight by shutout, tying a school record set last season, and the Greyhounds have not allowed a run in 46 innings, four innings shy of the mark of 50 set in 2007.
Python improved to 7-2 in the circle with her fifth straight win, third by shutout. Python struck out three batters and may have had the Greyhounds' second perfect game of the doubleheader if the leadoff batter in the fourth inning had not reached base on a Moravian error.
The Greyhounds would give Python all of the offense she needed with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Moravian swept its inaugural Landmark Conference doubleheader with a 4-0 victory at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in the second game of the twinbill. The win was the Greyhounds' fifth straight, all by shutout, and the team's eight shutout of the season in 11 wins. Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python tossed her second straight shutout for Moravian, allowing just three hits and striking out three batters.
The Greyhounds would give Python all of the offense she needed in the top of the third inning when freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus connected on a solo home run to left field to put Moravian up 1-0. The homer was Paulus' second of the season.
Moravian would add three unearned runs in the top of the sixth inning. Senior second baseman Beth Paly hit a one-out double and junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek drew walk. Junior Katie Agnew came into pinch run for Paly while sophomore Katie Flood ran for Bieniek. The pair would pull off a double steal to move into scoring position. Agnew and Flood would come across the plate on a dropped fly ball off of the bat of junior designated player Maria DeBonis. BeBonis would come home with the final run of the game after an error in the outfield on a single by junior catcher Deanna Mangieri.
The Greyhounds had just four hits in the game with two off of Paly's bat while the Mariners had three hits with two by Kaitlyn Robbins. Jess LaValley took the loss in the circle for U.S. Merchant Marine, allowing four runs, just one earned, on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

The Greyhounds opened their inaugural Landmark Conference season with an 8-0, six-inning victory at The United States Merchant Marine Academy in the first game of a Landmark Conference doubleheader. Moravian junior pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed her fourth shutout of the season, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out 11 batters in the win.
The Greyhounds would give DeBonis all of the offense she needed in the top of the second inning when they pushed three runs across the plate. Senior second baseman Kelly Santry led off the inning with an infield single and moved to second on a Mariner error. DeBonis then gave herself the lead with an RBI double. Senior outfielder Megan Ritchey followed with an RBI infield single to score DeBonis, and Ritchey would cross the plate with the final run of the inning on an RBI single by freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus.
Moravian added two more runs to its lead in the top of the third inning for a 5-0 lead. Senior shortstop Beth Paly led off the inning with a single, and junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek followed with single through the right side. A ground out by Santry would put both Paly and Bieniek in scoring position for DeBonis' two-RBI double to left centerfield.
The Greyhounds scored three times in the top of the sixth inning for an 8-0 lead and held U.S. Merchant Marine scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to end the contest with the NCAA eight-run rule. In the sixth inning, junior catcher Deanna Mangieri reached on error and was pinch run for by sophomore Katie Flood. After an out, freshman third baseman Maura Agnew hit a single to set up an RBI single by junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz that scored Flood. After a wild pitch moved Agnew and Kelpeisz into scoring position, Paly delivered a two-RBI single.
Moravian had ten hits in the victory with DeBonis going two-for-three with two doubles and three RBIs and Paly going two-for-four with a pair of RBIs. Jess LaValley had a leadoff single in the bottom of the second inning as the only hit for the Mariners. Marjorie Marino would take the loss in the circle for U.S. Merchant Marine, allowing eight runs, five of them earned, on ten hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

The Greyhounds swept a non-conference doubleheader from former conference foe Elizabethtown College with a 6-0 victory in the second game. Moravian freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python tossed her second straight shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out three batters to improve to 5-2 in the circle this season.
Moravian would give Python all of the offense she needed before Python even hit the circle as the Greyhounds scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Freshman outfielder Stephanie Falzarano led off the game with a double to left centerfield, and junior Erica Klepeisz followed with a single through the right side to put runners on the corners. Klepeisz would then steal second base and a throwing error would move her to third and allow Falzarano to score. Senior shortstop Beth Paly then hit an RBI double down the left field line to score Klepeisz.
The Greyhounds added a run in the top of the second inning for a 3-0 lead. Senior designated player Megan Ritchey started the inning with a single up the middle, and she moved to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, junior second baseman Katie Agnew hit an RBI double to right center to score Ritchey.
Moravian pushed another run across the plate in the top of the third inning to build a 4-0 lead. Paly led off the inning with a single to left centerfield, and she moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior third baseman Kelly Santry. A single to right center by freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus put runners on the corners before an RBI single to center field by freshman first baseman Jennifer Schmitt.
The Greyhounds scored their final two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Agnew reached on an error with one out and scored on an RBI triple to centerfield by Klepeisz. Paly followed with an RBI single up the middle to push Klepeisz home. Moravian had 13 hits in the game and was led by Paly's three-for-four performance. Agnew and Klepeisz were each two-for-four in Moravian's third straight victory.
Lisa Malehorn started in the circle for Elizabethtown, allowing three runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings of action. Alex Lee tossed the final 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs, just one earned, on eight hits, and she struck out eight Greyhounds. The Blue Jays had just two hits in the game, a pair of singles in the fourth inning.

Paulus would steal second before scoring on an RBI double to left field by junior outfielder Erica Kelpeisz.

Klepeisz came across the plate on a Dickinson error on a ball hit by Greyhound junior designated player Sheri Bieniek.
Moravian would add a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Freshman shortstop Stephanie Falzarano led off with a single and moved to second on a Klepeisz sacrifice bunt. After a wild pitch moved Falzarano to third, Paly hit an RBI single up the middle to plate Falzarano. The Greyhounds had seven hits in the game with Falzarano and freshman third baseman Maura Agnew each getting two hits.

Moravian had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 4-0 loss to Dickinson College in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Blue & Grey Field. The Red Devils scored all of the offense they would need in the top of the second inning when Emma Murtaugh led off the inning with a solo home run to right field.
Dickinson added a run on the top of the fourth inning when Theresa Souza scored on a two-out RBI double to right centerfield by Alesha Sisco. The Red Devils scored again in the top of the fifth inning when pinch runner Jess Haklar scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Rachel Fleming. Murtaugh finished off the scoring in the top of the seventh inning with a two-out solo homer to right field.
Dickinson had seven hits in the game with Murtaugh going two-for-four and Sicco going two-for-three. Moravian las limited to three hits in the game, singles by junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek, senior second baseman Kelly Santry and senior outfielder Megan Ritchey.

The Greyhounds swept their second straight home doubleheader and extended their winning streak to four games with a 12-4, six-inning victory over 17th-ranked Wilkes University at Blue & Grey Field. Moravian would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Senior outfielder Megan Ritchey doubled to lead off the inning and scored when freshman third baseman Maura Agnew reached on a Wilkes throwing error on her bunt attempt. Agnew was eventually thrown out a the plate trying to score on a single by freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus. Freshman outfielder/shortstop Stephanie Falzarano then hit an RBI double to score Paulus.
The Greyhounds would extend their lead to 5-0 with a trio of runs on the bottom of the third inning. Senior shortstop Beth Paly led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek. Senior second baseman Kelly Santry then hit an RBI double down the left field line to score Paly, and Santry scored on an RBI single by Agnew. Ritchey, who had drawn a walk between Santry and Agnew's at-bats, crossed the plate on an RBI single from Paulus.

The Greyhounds would answer in the bottom half of the inning with six runs to institute the NCAA eight-run rule for the second time in the twinbill and fourth time in their last four games. Falzarano led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Klepeisz. Paly would hit an RBI triple to score Klepeisz, and then Paly crossed the plate on an RBI double by Schmitt. After an out and a walk by Ritchey, Schmitt would score on an RBI single by Agnew. Junior catcher Deanna Mangieri would drive in Ritchey with an RBI single before Paulus hit an RBI single to score Agnew and give Moravian an eight run lead.
Moravian pounded out a season high 16 hits in the game with Paulus going three-for-three and Falzarano going three-for-four. Agnew and Schmitt each had two hits for the Greyhounds. Wilkes was limited to four hits in the contest.
Greyhound freshman Elizabeth Python improved to 3-2 in the circle this season with the win. She allowed four runs on six hits while striking out four batters. Maureen Pelot suffered the loss for the Colonels, allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks with one strikeout in four innings of action. Freshman outfielder Megan Boyle reached on an error with two outs and Falzarano followed with a walk. The Greyhounds would give DeBonis all of the offensive support she would need with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz singled with one out, stole second base and moved to third on a wild pitch before crossing the plate on an RBI single by junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek.
Moravian added two runs in the bottom of the second inning when freshman third baseman Maura Agnew doubled with two outs and freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus followed with her first collegiate home run, a shot into the wind to dead centerfield. The Greyhounds would make their lead 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning when DeBonis led off the inning with a triple and scored on an RBI triple by Paulus with two outs.
Moravian would institute the NCAA eight-run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning with five runs for the 9-0 victory. Klepeisz was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and senior shortstop Beth Paly followed with an RBI double to left centerfield scoring Klepeisz. Sophomore first baseman Danielle Massa singled to move Paly to third base. Freshman Jennifer Schmitt then pinch hit for DeBonis and reached on an error that allowed Massa and Paly to score. Two batters later, Agnew connected on her second homer of the season, a shot to left centerfield to score Schmitt end the game.
The Greyhounds had ten hits in the game with Agnew, Paly and Paulus each collecting two hits. Paulus also drove in three runs while Agnew had two RBIs and two runs scored. The Greyhounds dropped a battle of Top 25 teams for the second time in a week, falling to Lynchburg (VA) College, 7-5, at the 12th Annual Salisbury Sea Gull Invitational at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salisbury, Maryland. Moravian is ranked 23th in the first National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll of the regular season while the Hornets, who defeated the Greyhounds last weekend, jumped up to third in the NFCA Top 25 Poll.
Lynchburg would jump out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Lauren Duguay would reach on a one-out single and come around to score on an RBI single by Audra Della Rosa. Brittany Allsop, who had reached on an error between the Duguay and Della Rosa hits, scored on an RBI single by Elizabeth Perkins.
Moravian would respond in the bottom half of the second inning with four runs to take a 4-2 lead. Junior designated player Maria DeBonis started off the inning with a single and junior catcher Deanna Mangieri followed with a single. Senior second baseman Kelly Santry would drive in DeBonis with an RBI double. After an out, Mangieri and DeBonis would score on a two-RBI single by junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz. Klepeisz, who took second on a throw home attempting to throw out DeBonis, came across the plate on an RBI double by senior outfielder Megan Ritchey.
The Hornets would get a run back in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Greyhound lead to 4-3. Allsop led off with a double and scored on an RBI ground out by Perkins. Moravian would get the run back in its half of the fourth inning. Ritchey connected on a one-out single and crossed the plate for the Greyhounds when DeBonis drew a bases loaded walk.
Lynchburg would strike for four runs in the top of the fifth inning to retake the lead, 7-5. Dara Sandifer led off with a walk and Duguay hit a one-out single to move Sandifer to third where she eventually scored on a wild pitch by Moravian freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python. Two batters later and after DeBonis came into the circle for the Greyhounds, Allsop connected on a three-run homer to right field for the victory.
Moravian pounded out 12 hits in the game with Santry going three-for-four and Ritchey, Mangieri and senior shortstop Beth Paly each collecting two hits. The Hornets had seven hits in the contest two each off of the bats of Allsop and Duguay. The teams combined to leave 21 runners on base with Lynchburg stranding 11 and Moravian leaving ten Greyhounds on base.
Python would take the loss for the Greyhounds in the circle, allowing six runs, just four earned, on six hits and five walks while striking out four batters in 4 1/3 innings of action. DeBonis would allow a run on a hit and three walks while fanning three batters in 2 2/3 innings. Barbara Miles started for Lynchburg and would allow five runs on ten hits and four walks while striking out one in 3 2/3 innings. Katie Bruce would come in for the Hornets and give up just two hits and a walk while striking out a batter in 3 1/3 innings of action.

Moravian snapped a three-game losing streak and earned a 4-2 victory over King's College in the first game of the 12th Annual Salisbury Sea Gull Invitational at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salisbury, Maryland. The Greyhounds jumped out 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz led off the inning with a double to right field, and she moved to third on a one-out single by senior shortstop Beth Paly. Kelpeisz would score on an RBI single by junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek.
Moravian would extend its lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning. Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis led off the inning with a double to centerfield. Freshman designated player Stephanie Falzarano followed with a single to move DeBonis to third, and then freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus hit an RBI ground out to score DeBonis. Falzarano eventually scored the winning run on an RBI double by senior second baseman Kelly Santry.
The Greyhounds added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning when Falzarano reached on a one-out single and scored on a two-out RBI single by Santry. Moravian would have 12 hits in the game with Santry going three-for-four and Paly, DeBonis and Falzarano each collecting two hits.
King's, who was held without a hit through the first five innings, would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Leanne Harvey reached on an error to lead off the Monarch half of the sixth inning and scored on a two-run home run by Abbey Knoblauch. King's had just two hits in the contest.
DeBonis picked up her first win of the season in the circle, allowing two runs, just one earned, on two hits and three walks while striking out ten batters. DeBonis struck out the side in the fifth inning to give her 200 career strikeouts, becoming just the sixth Greyhound pitcher to record 200 career strikeouts.
Kelsey Shreaves suffered the loss for the Monarchs, allowing four runs on ten hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings of action. Lindsey Hoerner would allow two hits in 1 2/3 innings of relief action.

The Greyhounds dropped their third straight game in a battle of teams ranked in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 preseason poll, as sixth-ranked Moravian fell to #11th-ranked Lynchburg (VA) College, 6-5 in nine innings, the the teams' final game at the Beach Bash at Princess Anne Park in Virginia Beach. The three-game losing streak is Moravian's longest since losing three in a row back in April of 2005.
The Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning when Amber James scored on a Moravian throwing error and an Elizabeth Perkins RBI single that scored Brittany Allsop, who had reached on the error that allowed James to score.
Moravian would cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth inning when junior pitcher Maria DeBonis led off the inning with her first home run of the season and the fifth of her career, a shot to center field. The Greyhounds took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek led off the inning with a solo homer to center field, her first of the season and 11th of her career. After an out, freshman third baseman Maura Agnew connected on her first collegiate home run, a solo shot to center field.
Lynchburg retook the lead in the top of the seventh inning with three runs to build a 5-3 advantage. With two outs and the bases loaded, Allsop scored on a wild pitch to tie the game and then Kirstin Swank hit a high pop fly in the infield that fell in for a two-RBI single.
The Greyhounds would score twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5 and force extra innings. Bieniek would drive in the first run with a bases loaded ground out that plated junior outfielder Erica Klepeisz, who had drawn a walk to start the inning. Junior catcher Deanna Mangieri then hit an RBI single to center field that scored senior outfielder Megan Ritchey, who had reached on a fielder's choice. Moravian would reload the bases with just one out but left all three runners on base for the second time in the game.
Since the game was part of a tournament, the teams immediately went to the international tiebreaker of placing a runner on second base at the start of the eighth inning. Neither team would score in the eighth inning. Lynchburg would break the tie in the top of the ninth inning when Audra Della Rossa put down a suicide squeeze bunt to score Katie Bruce, who was placed on second to start the inning. The Greyhounds would strand a runner at third base, the team's 11th runner left on base in the game, in the bottom of the ninth inning. Lynchburg had just five hits in the game with Allsop going three-for-four. Moravian had eight hits in the contest with Mangieri and freshman designated player Stephanie Falzarano each collecting two hits.
DeBonis dropped to 0-2 in the circle for Moravian, allowing six runs, just three of them earned, on five hits and five walks, one of them intentional, with six strikeouts. Bruce earned the victory for the Hornets, giving up five runs on eight hits and five walks while striking out five Greyhounds.

Moravian dropped its second straight game, opening the second day of the 2008 Beach Bash in Virginia Beach with a 3-1 loss to Rowan (NJ) University at Princess Anne Park. The Greyhounds dropped to 1-2 on the season, and the last time Moravian was below .500 after the first day of the season was in 1997 when the Greyhounds were 2-3 in a season opening tournament in North Carolina.
The Profs would score three times in the top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Stephanie Taraschi led off the inning with a single before a fielder's choice by Amanda Brown. Melanie Sura reached on a Greyhound error and Kristina Brenner hit an infield single to load the bases for Rowan. Heidi Smith then delivered a three-run double to left centerfield, scoring Brown, Sura and Brenner.
Moravian answered with a run in the bottom of the second when junior catcher Deanna Mangieri doubled to left centerfield with two outs. Mangieri would move to third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by senior third baseman Kelly Santry, who would move to third on the play after an error in the Rowan outfield. The Greyhounds were limited to just five hits in the game with two by Santry. The Profs collected eight hits with Brenner, Smith and Taraschi each getting two.
Greyhound freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python suffered her first loss of the season in the circle, allowing three runs, just two earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out two batters. Jackie Sasko earned the victory for Rowan, allowing a run on five hits and a walk while striking out 12 Moravian batters.

Vs. Messiah College at Beach Bash

The Greyhounds, ranked sixth in the nation in the NFCA Division
III Preseason Top 25, dropped their first game of the season, falling to former conference rival Messiah College, 6-4, in non-conference action on the first day of the Beach Bash. The tournament was delayed as a new complex had to be found after the fields in Virginia Beach were deemed unplayable. The games were moved to Portsmouth, Virginia.
Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek led off the inning with an infield single to third base. After a ground out, Bieniek would move to third on a single by junior catcher Deanna Mangieri and eventually scored on a dropped fly ball hit by senior third baseman Kelly Santry.
The Falcons responded with three unearned runs on the top of the third inning. Lana Trotter drove in a run with a bases loaded walk while Amy Bowie had a two-RBI single. The Greyhounds would pull within a run, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior outfielder Megan Ritchey led off with a single and scored on an RBI ground out by freshman designated player Maura Agnew.
Messiah scored the next three runs to seal the victory. The Falcons scored once in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Trotter and twice in the top of the sixth inning on RBI singles by Tori Hatt and Rebekkah Funk. Moravian finished off the scoring in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-RBI single by senior shortstop Beth Paly that scored Agnew and freshman second baseman Stephanie Falzarano.
The Greyhounds had eight hits in the game with freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus hitting her first collegiate double. The Falcons had seven hits in the contest with Bowie going two-for-four with two RBIs.
Moravian junior Maria DeBonis suffered the loss in the circle for the Greyhounds. DeBonis allowed six runs, just three of them earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out 11 batters. Corinn Eby earned the victory for Messiah, allowing four runs, three of them earned, on eight hits and two walk while striking out three batters in 6 1/3 innings. Megan Rice came in for the Falcons to shut down the Greyhounds' seventh inning rally and record the final two outs for the save.

Junior first baseman Sheri Bieniek followed with an RBI single down the left field line to score Klepeisz and move Paly to second. After an out, junior catcher Deanna Mangieri had an infield single to load the bases for Moravian. Paly would get thrown out at home on a fielder's choice by senior third baseman Kelly Santry, but Bieniek would score what ended up being the winning run on a wild pitch.
Methodist would cut the Moravian lead in half in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI single down the left field line by Darci Martin. The Greyhounds added an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning when Klepeisz connected on a sacrifice fly to score senior outfielder Megan Ritchey, who had led off the inning with an infield single. Moravian had six hits in the game, all singles by different players while Methodist was limited to four singles.
Greyhound freshman Elizabeth Python earned her first collegiate victory in the circle, tossing a complete game with four hits, one run and two walks allowed. Emily Beck suffered the loss for Methodist, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on six hits and two walks, and she struck out five Greyhounds.
