THREE NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Becky Roe (Worcester, NY/Worcester Central HS) from the women’s soccer team, senior J.D. Rhinehart (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS) of the football squad and freshman Anthony Merz (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan HS) from the men’s soccer team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Roe, a goalie, led Moravian to a pair of victories last week. She made four saves in a 5-2 victory over Lycoming College and then made nine saves in 1-0 shutout of rival Muhlenberg College. Roe, who has a 1.28 goals against average this season, has helped Moravian to an 8-2 overall record and an eighth place ranking in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings.

Rhinehart, an outside linebacker, has helped anchor the Greyhounds defense in the team’s 3-0 start to the 2000 season. Rhinehart made 13 tackles with one sack, one interception and a forced fumble which was returned by a teammate for a touchdown in Moravian’s 19-6 victory over Lebanon Valley College last Saturday. On the season, Rhinehart leads the Greyhounds with 34 tackles and two and a half sacks.

Merz, a midfielder, scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the Greyhounds’ only match last week, a 4-0 win at Lycoming College. Merz has scored three goals this season and has added two assists for the 3-4 Greyhounds. Moravian has won its last three matches of the season.
