ROE & JANKOWICZ NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior goalie Becky Roe (Worcester, NY/Worcester Central HS) of the women's soccer team and senior running back P.J. Jankowicz (Belle Mead, NJ/ Hillsborough HS) from the football squad have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Roe posted three wins in net last week with two shutouts, including a 1-0 win over Messiah College to clinch a three-way tie for first place in the Commonwealth Conference and the first home playoff match in Moravian history.  Roe had five saves in a 4-0 win over Wilkes and then made 11 saves in a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Drew University that set the Moravian team single season record for wins with 15.  Roe had eight saves in the shutout of Messiah.  Roe has three shutouts in 2000 and 16 in her career to go with a 39-20-1 record.  The Greyhounds, now 16-3 on the season, will host Messiah College on Wednesday, October 25th at 3:00 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference semifinal.

Jankowicz became the seventh player in Moravian history to surpass 2,000 career yards with 32 yards on nine carries with one touchdown in a 36-13 victory over FDU-Madison last Saturday.  Jankowicz now has 2,021 yards in his career on 562 carries and 18 touchdowns.  Jankowicz also caught three passes for 73 yards in the game with touchdown receptions of four and 51 yards, the first two touchdown receptions of his career.  Moravian is 4-3 on the season and will play at Susquehanna University on Saturday, October 28th at 1:30 p.m.
