YOUNG NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior middle hitter Sara Young (Tunkhannock/ Tunkhannock HS), who helped the Moravian College women's volleyball team to a 21-9 record this season, has been named to the 2000 Verizon Academic All-District II College Division Volleyball Second Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

To be eligible for Verizon Academic All-America® and All-District accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. The College Division is made up of all the NCAA Division II and III Schools in the nation as well as all NAIA schools.  Student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools are named to the University Division Teams.  District II is made up of schools from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Young, who was the Commonwealth Rookie of the Year in 1997, posted a team leading 77 blocks this season and she added 225 kills and 62 digs this fall.  Young completed her Moravian career 713 kills and 260 blocks.  She was also named to the Commonwealth Conference All-Star Second Team on Thursday.

The Greyhounds record of 21-9 for this season was their fifth straight 20-win season and the team competed in the postseason for the fifth consecutive year.  Moravian was seeded third in the Commonwealth Conference Playoffs and lost to Juniata in the title match for the fourth straight year.
