TRIO NAMED MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Juniors Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) and Emily
Shertzer (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin HS) of the women's cross country and senior David
Jordan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) from the men's basketball squad
have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances
last week.
Wolfsberger earned All-America honors for the fourth time in her Moravian career and the
second time on the cross country team with a runner-up finish in the 2000 NCAA Division
III National Championships in Spokane, WA. Wolfsberger was second of 211 runners
in a season-best time of 18:10.6 on the 5,000-meter course to lead the Greyhounds to a
fifth place team finish. Wolfsberger was a runner-up in the 1,500 meters during the
track season twice in the 2000 NCAA Championships, once indoors and once outdoors.
Shertzer also earned All-America accolades at the NCAA Championships with a 26th place
showing in a season best time of 18:34.6. Shertzer was also an All-American in the
outdoor track season this past spring in the 10,000 meters.
Jordan, a guard, was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Roanoke College Salem Bank & Trust
Tournament after scoring 51 points and grabbing ten rebounds in a pair of losses for the
Greyhounds. Jordan had 12 points and five rebounds in a 89-72 loss to Roanoke College
to open the 2000 season. He netted a career high 39 points on 10 of 16 shooting from
the field and a 14 of 16 effort from the foul line in a 98-83 loss to Clark University
(MA). Jordan, who now needs 276 points to reach 1,000 in his career, also made five
of eight three-pointers in the contest.
