HUGHES & HALL NAMED MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Freshman Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) from the women's
basketball team and sophomore Kevin Hall (Mountain Top/Pocono Mountain HS) of the
men's basketball squad have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week
for their performances last week.
Hughes, a guard, led Moravian to a third place finish at the 2000 Muskingum College Memorial
Tournament over the weekend and was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts. Hughes
scored a career high 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 90-82 loss to host Muskingum. Hughes
helped the Greyhounds rally from a 23-point deficit with six minutes to play and cut the
lead to five points before Muskingum put the game away. In the consolation game,
an 81-63 win over Methodist (NC) College, Hughes was on of three Moravian players to score
12 points in the win and she was perfect from the foul line (8-for-8) in the game. Hughes
added five rebounds, four steals and two assists in the win. Hughes opened her collegiate
career last Tuesday with nine points and two rebounds in a 62-52 loss at Allentown College. For
the week, Hughes was 12 of 35 from the floor and 14 of 16 from the free throw line and
added 13 rebounds. Moravian is 1-2 on the season and will host Widener University
to open the 2000-01 home season and Commonwealth Conference campaign on Tuesday, November
28th at 7:00 p.m.
Hall led the Greyhounds to the team's first win of the season last week, a 65-62 win over
Allentown College. Hall, a guard, scored a career high 21 points in the game. He
also had two assists, two steals, a rebound and a blocked shot in the win. Moravian
is 1-2 on the season and will host Widener University to open the Commonwealth Conference
season on Wednesday, November 29th at 8:00 p.m.
