POCHRON NAMED COMMONWEALTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior pitcher/outfielder Joe Pochron (Allentown/Salisbury HS) of
the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of
the Week for his performance last week.
Pochron had an outstanding week for Moravian (2-3 in the week), hitting .500 in five games
and earning two victories on the mound in Commonwealth Conference action. For the
week, Pochron was 7-for-14 at the plate with four runs scored, three doubles and a walk
and he was 2-0 on the mound with just eight hits, two runs (both earned) and nine walks
while striking out 17 batters in 14 innings. In a doubleheader with Juniata College,
Pochron posted a career-high 11 strikeouts on the mound while allowing three hits, one
run and seven walks in the victory. At the plate, Pochron was 3-for-5 with two runs
and two doubles versus the Eagles. Pochron had one hit in four at-bats versus Division
I Lehigh University. In a twinbill at Widener University, Pochron struck out six
batters and allowed five hits, two walks and one run for the win. At the plate, Pochron
was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a double.
The Greyhounds are currently 8-15 overall and 3-5 in the Commonwealth Conference. Moravian's
next game is Wednesday, April 11th at Delaware Valley College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
