LEIBY & RENTSCHLER NAMED TO EAST REGION ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

WAYNE, NJ --- Junior outfielder Sarah Leiby (Fleetwood/Fleetwood HS) of the Moravian College softball team was selected as an outfielder on the 2001 NCAA Division III East Regional All-Tournament Team while junior second baseman Laurie Rentschler (Slatington/Northern Lehigh HS) was named as an at-large selection.

William Paterson University, ranked 14th in the nation and the team that knocked Moravian out of the regional, won the tournament and is headed to Eau-Claire, Wisconsin for the Division III College World Series.

Leiby, Moravian's starting left fielder, was four-for-nine in the Greyhounds' three games at the regional with a double and a run scored.  She made four putouts in the outfield.

Rentschler, the Greyhounds' starting second baseman who has started 127 consecutive games for Moravian, had one hit, one walk and one run scored in the tournament.  Rentschler was flawless in the field with five putouts and four assists.

Moravian, which defeated Hunter (NY) College, 10-2 and lost to #11 Rowan (NJ) University, 1-0, and William Paterson, 2-1 at the regional, finished the season fourth in the regional with a 33-12 overall mark, which is a school record for victories in any sport.
