WOLFSBERGER LEADS FOUR GREYHOUNDS TO TRACK 
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior middle distance runner Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS), the 2001 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Champion in the 1,500 meters, leads a group of four student-athletes from Moravian College to the 2001 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Millikin University in Decatur, IL later this week (May 24-26).

Moravian tied for 12th of 44 teams at the 2001 Indoor Championships with just Wolfsberger and the distance medley relay team competing.

Wolfsberger, who is a six-time All-American, will compete in the trials of the 1,500 meters on Thursday at 4:50 p.m. central time.  Last spring, Wolfsberger, who enters this year's contest with the third fastest time in the country at 4:35.52, just 1.22 seconds off the best time, placed second in the nation in the 1,500 meters.  The finals of the 1,500 meters will be run on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Wolfsberger will also compete in the 3,000-meter finals on Friday at 6:05 p.m.  She enters that race with the best time in the country after running a 9:39.62 at the Penn Relays in the event.  Her time is 7.38 seconds faster than the next competitor.  Wolfsberger, who won the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship in both events, will be joined in the 3,000 meters by teammate, junior Kim Jaick (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh HS).  Jaick, who was ranked 17th in the nation, is the 15th of 19 qualifiers in the race with a season-best time of 10:10.05.

Junior Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin HS) will be returning the national championships for the second straight year in the 10,000 meters.  Shertzer, who won the MAC Championship in the event and was an All- American last spring after a seventh place finish, is ranked 11th going into the race on Thursday at 6:55 p.m. with a time of 36:59.66.

Junior Jennifer Lohn (Media/Penncrest HS) is making her second appearance at the NCAA Championships in the javelin.  Lohn, who also competed at the national meet as a freshman, is ranked 11th with a toss of 134 feet, nine inches (41.08 meters) that won the MAC Championship and set a meet record.  Lohn will compete in the trials then the finals of the javelin on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
