FOUR NAMED MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Corinne Kleinsmith (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) and junior Jenn Genevese (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) of women's tennis team, freshman Jaime Lichty (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) of the field hockey squad and junior John Cupples (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS)< from the football team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Kleinsmith & Genevese captured the 2001 Middle Atlantic Conference Doubles Championship as the number two seed in the tournament last weekend.  The duo finished the 2001 season with a 15-2 record and helped the Greyhounds post a 16-0 record and win their second straight MAC Team Title.  Last season, Kleinsmith & Genevese placed second in the doubles tournament.  Kleinsmith also won the 1998 MAC Doubles Championship with Marnie Heller.

Lichty, a forward, scored four goals last week as the Greyhounds finished the 2001 season with a 1-2 week.  Lichty had a pair of goals in a 5-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College and she added both goals in a 4-2 loss to Delaware Valley College in the season finale.  Lichty completed her freshman season with six goals and one assist while Moravian posted a 5-10 record this year.

Cupples, a linebacker, led the Greyhounds to their second straight win with a 25-15 victory over Wilkes University.  Cupples paced the Moravian defense with 11 tackles, including four for loss, one of Moravian's three sacks and a fumble recovery.  The Greyhounds allowed the MAC's leading rusher 123 yards, 26 below his season average.  Moravian is 3-3 on the season and will play at Albright College on Saturday, October 27th at 1:30 p.m.
