FOUR GREYHOUND WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE ALL-STARS;
HAYMAKER
CO-ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
ANNVILLE, PA --- The 2001 Moravian College women's soccer team has had four players named
to the Commonwealth Conference All-Star Teams announced Wednesday with sophomore midfielder Justina
Bria (Warminster, PA/William Tennent HS) earning a spot on the First Team and senior
forward Stevie Ochse (Bethlehem, PA/Saucon Valley HS), sophomore midfielder Heather
Bichler (Waverly, PA/Abington Heights HS) and freshman midfielder Kelly Haymaker
(Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) all making the Second Team. Haymaker was
also named the Commonwealth Conference Co-Rookie of the Year.
Moravian completed the season with an 11-7 record and made the Commonwealth Conference
Playoffs for the second straight year where the Greyhounds fell to eventual conference
champion Messiah College for the second consecutive season in the semifinals.
Bria, who was a Commonwealth Second Team All-Star last season, ran the Moravian offense
and defense from the middle of the field with four goals and four assists. Bria had
two game-winning goals this season including one that clinched the championships of the
Penn State-Behrend HLM Tournament to open the year.
The Commonwealth Conference honored Ochse for the fourth time in her career. She
was on the First Team as a sophomore and junior and the Second Team as a freshman. Ochse
was also the Co-Rookie of the Year as a freshman. She led the Greyhounds in scoring
this season with ten goals and two assists for 22 points. Ochse had three game-winning
goals and finished her career with 59 points (third in school history) on 23 goals (tied
for second) and 13 assists (tied for fourth).
Bichler played both defender and midfielder for the Greyhounds this season and is being
honored by the Commonwealth Conference for the first time. Bichler had one goal and
two assists this year with her one goal being the game winner in a match at Albright College.
Haymaker becomes Moravian's fourth Commonwealth Co-Rookie of the Year in the last five
seasons. She tallied six goals and two assists in her debut season for 14 points. Haymaker
had the Greyhounds only hat trick this year with three goals in a 7-1 victory versus Alvernia
College. She also had one game-winning goal this season.
