FREY NAMED COMMONWEALTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior first baseman Bob Frey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) of
the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of
the Week for his performance in the first two weeks of the regular season.
Frey has led Moravian to a 6-7 start this season with a torrid hitting pace. He
is hitting .475 on the season with 19 hits in 40 at-bats. Frey has connected
on six homeruns so far this spring, just one shy of the school record he set during his
freshman year, and his second homerun of a 12-11, 11-inning victory over Muhlenberg College
was the game winner and the 13th of his career, breaking Jud Frank's Moravian's
record. Frey also leads Moravian with 14 walks, 14 runs scored and 21 RBIs
in 13 games. He has committed just four errors in 99 chances so far this season. Frey's best
game was a five-for-five performance with a homerun, a double and five RBIs versus Kenyon
College at the Eastern Mennonite Sarasota Spring Classic.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 20th in a non-conference
game at Haverford College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
