MOWREY & TOEDTER NAMED MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Rachel Mowrey (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) from the softball team and sophomore Jason Toedter (Easton, PA/Easton HS) from the men's tennis squad have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Mowrey tossed her second one-hitter of the season, allowing the leadoff batter of the seventh inning an infield single, while shutting out Messiah College, 4-0, to open the Commonwealth Conference season.  Mowrey's< other no-hit bid this season went 6 2/3 innings before allowing a single.  She gave up just one walk in the contest and she struck out one.  Only three Messiah batters reached base in the game (one on an error).  With Moravian trailing 3-1 in the second game of the twinbill, Mowrey came back on the mound and allowed just one hit and three base runners (two by errors) over the final 2 2/3 innings.  For the doubleheader, Mowrey< pitched 9 2/3 innings with two hits and no runs allowed.  Moravian is 11-3 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference this season and will host Ursinus College on Tuesday, March 26th in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Toedter helped the men's tennis team remain undefeated in the MAC Commonwealth with a 7-0 victory over Widener University.  For the week, the Greyhounds won one of three matches while Toedter was 2-1 at first singles and 2-1 at first doubles with partner freshman Tasch Tinsley (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS).  Moravian is currently 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the MAC Commonwealth and the Greyhounds will return to action on Monday, March 25th in a non-conference match at FDU-Madison beginning at 3:30 p.m.
