ROTZELL, SILVOY AND WILL-WEBER HONORED BY MAC

ANNVILLE, PA --- Freshmen Kirsten Rotzell (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS) and Scott Silvoy (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) of the Moravian College indoor track & field teams have been named the 2001-02 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Rookies of the Year while head coach Mark Will-Weber was named as the MAC Women's Indoor Coach of the Year.

Silvoy shared the Men's Rookie of the Year Award with Steve Sanko from Elizabethtown College while Widener University's Vince Touey was named the Men's Indoor Coach of the Year.

At the MAC Championships in February, Rotzell was named the Women's Most Outstanding Performer while winning the long jump and triple jump and leading Moravian to its seventh straight MAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.  Rotzell won the long jump with an Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying leap of 5.29 meters (17 feet, 4 ¼ inches) and she captured the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 10.92 meters (35 feet, ten inches).  Rotzell, who was Moravian's third straight Most Outstanding Performer, placed sixth in the 55 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.68 seconds.

Silvoy was a member of the Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay team that won the MAC title in a MAC record time of 3:28.28.  Silvoy also placed second in the 200 meters in 22.96 seconds and second in the 400 meters with a time of 52.02 seconds.  Moravian senior Kevin Bush (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg HS), who was the meet's Most Outstanding Male Performer, ran with Silvoy on the 4x400-meter relay and was the only runner to beat Silvoy in the 200 and 400 meters.

Coach Will-Weber led the Moravian women to their seventh straight MAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.  He has also led the women's cross country team to the last eight MAC titles.  Will-Weber turns over the head coaching duties to Doug Pollard for the outdoor season and will serve as an assistant coach with the distance program.
