FOUR NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Sarah Shaneberger (Bethlehem, PA/Southern Lehigh HS) of the women's indoor track & field team, sophomore Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) from the women's basketball squad and freshman Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS) and junior Ken Greb (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional HS) from the men's basketball team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Shaneberger, a thrower, won the shot put with a distance of 12.28 meters (40-3 1/2) at the 2001 Lafayette College Invitational on Saturday.  Shaneberger also placed second in the 20-lb weight throw with a toss of 13.10 meters (45-11 1/4).

Hughes, a guard, helped the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record last week with Moravian earning a pair of victories over Freedom Conference opponents.  Moravian's only loss last week was a 68-64 decision to rival Muhlenberg College.  Hughes led the Greyhounds in scoring last week with an average of 13.7 points per game and she added 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers per game.  Hughes had 18 points in a victory over Wilkes, 12 points in a win at Drew and 11 points in the loss to Muhlenberg.  Moravian is 3-3 on the season.

Zaleski, a forward, led the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record last week including an 88-82 victory at Wilkes.  Moravian's only loss last week was an overtime loss to Scranton on a 45-foot shot with no time left on the clock.  Zaleski shot 60.5 percent from the floor (23 of 38) and 89.5 percent from the foul line (17 of 19) for the week.  He had a career high 22 points and a career best 11 rebounds in the loss to Scranton and then improved his career high with 36 points at Wilkes.  Zaleski was 13 of 18 (72.2 %) from the floor in the win at Wilkes and he also made nine of 11 free throws (81.8%) in the game.  Moravian is currently 4-2 on the season.

Greb, a forward, averaged 18.3 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Greyhounds last week.  He had 21 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Scranton and Greb added 20 points and 12 boards in an overtime victory at Drew University.  He finished the week with 14 points and seven rebounds at Wilkes.
