HUGHES, SPADT NAMED MORAVIAN ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Sophomore guard Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) from the women's basketball team and senior guard Doug Spadt (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus HS) of the men's basketball squad have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Hughes, who was named to the MAC Honor Roll for her efforts, helped the Greyhounds post a 2-1 record last week with a pair of Commonwealth Conference victories.  She averaged 17.6 points per game with 12 rebounds, nine assists and 11 three-pointers.  Hughes opened the week with 12 points in a 66-59 victory at Widener University.  Hughes hit five three-pointers and scored 20 points as she tried to help the Greyhounds rally from a 16-point deficit in a 72-70 loss at Franklin & Marshall College.  Hughes finished the week with a team high 20 points in a 76-61 victory over Juniata College.  For the week, Hughes shot 48.4 percent from the floor (16 of 33), 55 percent behind the three-point line (11 of 20) and 76.9 percent at the free throw line (10 of 13).  Moravian is currently 11-6 on the season and in a three-way tie for first place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 5-1 record.

Spadt averaged just under ten points per game while helping the men's squad post a 2-1 record last week and improve the team's overall mark to 10-6 on the season.  Spadt had two points, three rebounds and three steals of the bench in a 64-58 victory over Delaware Valley College last Monday.  He scored a team high 14 points off the bench in an 80-57 loss at Widener University and Spadt finished the week with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in an 86-72 victory over Juniata College.  Spadt was in the starting line-up for the Juniata game.
