MORAVIAN MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM RANKED FIFTH IN NATION IN
FREE THROW PERCENTAGE; WOMEN'S TEAM 22ND
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men's basketball team is currently ranked fifth
in the country in free throw percentage, connecting on 77.9 percent of its attempts, in
the fifth release of the NCAA Division III national statistics for the 2001-02 season. The
rankings include games through Monday, January 28th. The Moravian women's team is
22nd in the nation, shooting 72.1 percent from the free throw line.
The men's squad, currently 13-7 on the season, had made 324 of 416 attempts in the team's
first 19 games of the season and trailed Baldwin-Wallace College of Ohio, which has a percentage
of 80.2 (268 of 334). Moravian has shot under 70 percent in just five games this
season and the squad has hit for over 80 percent in nine games. The Greyhounds improved
their percentage to 78.5 percent (344 of 438) in Wednesday's 86-74 victory over Albright
College.
The women's team, also 13-7 this season, has connected on 364 of 505 attempts this year. The
Greyhounds have been over 80 percent seven times this season including four of the last
seven games while shooting under 70 percent six times. Millikin University leads
the nation at 78.7 percent ( 230 of 292).
