WOZNIAK & ZALESKI NAMED STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior guard Tara Wozniak (Roseland, NJ/West Essex Regional HS) from
the women's basketball team and freshman forward Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/
Hackettstown HS) from the men's basketball squad have been named the Moravian College
Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.
Wozniak helped the Moravian women's squad post a 1-1 record last week and move within
one victory of clinching the team's first postseason bid since 1997-98. Wozniak averaged
16.5 points for the week. She had 15 points in a 65-46 victory over Albright College
and 18 points in a 97-73 loss at Messiah College. Wozniak also added eight rebounds,
five three-pointers and three assists during the week. The Greyhounds are 13-8 on
the season and 7-3 in the Commonwealth Conference. The team returns to action on
Wednesday, February 6th in a Commonwealth Conference contest with Elizabethtown College
at 7:00 p.m.
Zaleski led the men's team to a 1-1 record last week while averaging 26.5 points per game. Zaleski
had a game high 25 points in Moravian's 86-74 victory over Albright College to give Moravian
head coach Jim Walker his 300th victory at the school. Zaleski finished the week
with a game high 28 points and a career best 12 rebounds in a 79-72 loss at Messiah College. For
the week, Zaleski was 21 of 34 (61.8 percent) from the floor and 11 of 12 (91.7 percent)
from the charity stripe. He also averaged 10.0 rebounds per game. The men's
squad is 13-8 overall and 5-5 in the Commonwealth Conference and will host nationally ranked
Elizabethtown College on Tuesday, February 5th at 8:00 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference
contest.
