WOZNIAK & ZALESKI
NAMED TO LEHIGH VALLEY COLLEGE DIVISION BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE YEAR
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior guard Tara Wozniak (Roseland, NJ/West Essex Regional HS) and
freshman guard Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS) from the Moravian
College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley College Division Basketball
Teams of the Year announced Tuesday at the final Lehigh Valley College Division Basketball
Media Organization luncheon of the season hosted at Starters Pub in Bethlehem.
Each February, the LVCDBMO selects one player from each of the area's seven NCAA Division
II and III Colleges to be on the Teams of the Year. The coaches, sports information
directors and media members vote at the luncheon for the Players of the Year, which were
awarded to Susan Marchiano and Mark Lesko of Muhlenberg College this year.
Marchiano, Tiffany Stewart from Cedar Crest College, Kristen Henry of Delaware Valley
College, Jen Netwall from DeSales University, Tiffany Barnes of East Stroudsburg University
and Becky Savage from Kutztown University, joined Wozniak on the Women's Team of
the Year.
Joining Zaleski and Lesko on the men's team were Gerry Rose from Delaware Valley,
Jemell Rayam of DeSales, Jon Kelley from East Stroudsburg and Bilal Salaam of Kutztown.
Wozniak has led the Moravian women to a 15-8 overall record and a 9-3 slate in
the Commonwealth Conference this season. The Greyhounds have already clinched a Commonwealth
Conference playoff berth, their first since the 1997-98 season. Wozniak leads
Moravian in scoring at 14.9 points per game and she is second on the squad at 6.2 rebounds
per contest. She also leads the team with 52 assists, 43 steals and 44 three-pointers. Wozniak needs
just 38 points to become Moravian's 13th women's player to reach 1,000 points
in a career.
Zaleski has helped the Moravian men to a 13-10 overall record and a 5-7 mark in
the Commonwealth Conference in his first season with the team. Zaleski leads
the team with averages of 19.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He also leads the
Greyhounds in field goal percentage (58.4) and blocked shots with 16. Zaleski has
scored 442 points this season, the eighth highest single season total in school history
and he is shooting 83.5 percent from the foul line this year as Moravian is ranked second
in the nation in free throw percentage as a team.
