FOUR NAMED MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Kelly McLean (Allentown, PA/Salisbury HS) from the women's basketball team, sophomore Christina Scherwin (Denmark) of the women's indoor track & field team, junior Ken Greb (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional HS) from the men's basketball squad and freshman Scott Silvoy (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) of the men's indoor track & field team have been named the Moravian College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

McLean, a forward, led Moravian to a 1-1 week last week.  McLean netted a team high 17 points 74-55 loss at Susquehanna University.  She added six rebounds and four blocked shots in the game.  McLean finished the regular season with her sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and ten rebounds in Moravian's 70-65 victory at Juniata College.  McLean added two blocked shots in the win.  The Greyhounds finished the regular season with an overall record of 16-9 and a 10-4 slate in the Commonwealth Conference.  Moravian is seeded third in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs and will travel to Messiah College for a semifinal contest on Wednesday, February 20th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Scherwin won the shot put with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying and ECAC qualifying toss of 12.94 meters (42 feet, 5 ½ inches) to lead the Moravian women's indoor track & field team at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College last Saturday.  Scherwin also competed in the 55-meter dash, winning her heat with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.5 seconds, which tied for third overall.  The Greyhounds will compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on February 23rd at Susquehanna University.

Greb, a forward, helped the Greyhounds to a 1-1 week and he led the squad to its first winning season (14-11) since a 14-10 record in 1997-98.  Greb scored a career high 22 points and added six rebounds, four steals and three assists in a 79-76 loss at Susquehanna University.  He finished the week with ten points and nine boards in a 64-60 loss to close out the 2001-02 season.  Greb was 12 of 19 (63.2 percent) from the floor last week and 8 of 9 (88.9 percent) from the foul line.  Moravian closed out the season with a 14-11 overall record and a mark of 6-8 in the Commonwealth Conference.

Silvoy led the Moravian indoor men's track & field at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College on Saturday.  He tied for first in his heat of the 200 meters and tied for second overall in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.7 seconds.  Silvoy also won his heat of the 400 meters in 51.5 seconds and he ran a time of .9 seconds in the 55 meters.  The Greyhounds will compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on February 23rd at Susquehanna University.
