MORAVIAN WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM EARNS ITA ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS

SKILLMAN, NJ --- The Moravian College women's tennis team has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team for 2001-02 by the ITA.

The Greyhounds, who were 16-0 last season and won their second straight Middle Atlantic Conference title and the fifth championship in six years under the direction of head coach Dawn Benner, were one of 35 NCAA Division III women's teams to win the award.  Joining Moravian from the MAC was Drew University.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA eligibility form and have competed in one or more matches are averaged into the cumulative grade point average.

A total of 179 NCAA schools earn the ITA All-Academic Award, and ten NAIA schools were honored with the largest number, 70 programs, coming from the NCAA Division I women's programs.

The Greyhounds will begin their 2002 season on Thursday, September 5th when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a MAC Commonwealth match starting at 4:00 p.m.
