MORAVIAN NAMES THREE ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACHES;
PROMOTES PUKSZYN TO ASSISTANT HEAD COACH
BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College football team has added three new assistant coaches
for the 2002 season and the school has promoted Jeff Pukszyn to assistant head coach.
Joining head coach Scot Dapp, who enters his 16th season with a record of 93-59-1,
on the sidelines for the first time are Gordy Frack, Fran Meagher and Adam
Stauffer.
Frack, a 2000 graduate of Moravian, will be a general defensive assistant and help
with special teams. Frack played four seasons for coach Dapp and made 115
tackles, 23 pass break-ups and ten interceptions for the Greyhounds.
Meagher is joining Moravian as head men's lacrosse coach and he will assist the
football team by coaching the wide receiver, tight ends and assisting with the offensive
line. Meagher was head coach at Muhlenberg College for four seasons in the
early 1990s with a record of 10-28-1, including a 4-5 mark in his final season while coaching
a first team All-American. Meagher was also head football coach at Swarthmore College
for five years with a 17-31 record, and he assisted with the football program while at
Union College.
Stauffer will work with this inside linebackers and special teams in his first
season with Moravian. Stauffer earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees
from East Stroudsburg University and he played four seasons for the Warriors.
Pukszyn is starting his sixth season with the Greyhounds this year after starring
at defensive tackle for three years. The 1997 Moravian graduate and two-time MAC
Commonwealth All-Star has been promoted to assistant head coach and is the 'Hounds defensive
coordinator for the third straight year. Pukszyn will also be working with
the outside linebackers.
Other coaches returning for Dapp this season include: Ron Cardinal in his
13th season as offensive back coach, Gary Martell in his 28th year as an offensive
assistant and working with the scout team, Kurt Poling returning for a second season
to work with the defensive line, Joe Pollock as offensive line coach for the third
consecutive season, Mike Roberts in his second year as a defensive back coach, Scott
Stanilious working as a defensive assistant and work with the scout team for a third
straight year, and Joe Wolf will assist with the offensive front five for the second
straight season. Martell, Poling and Stanilious are all members of
Moravian's Hall of Fame while Poling and Stanilious were co-captains of the
1988 MAC Championship team, Moravian's first squad to make a trip to the NCAA Playoffs. Wolf spent
seven years in the National Football League with the Arizona Cardinals and Pollock was
captain of Moravian's team in 1998.
Moravian opens its 2002 season Saturday, September 7th with a home Middle Atlantic Conference
game versus FDU-Florham beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Steel Field.
