MORAVIAN FIELD HOCKEY PICKED SEVENTH IN COACHES POLL
ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College field hockey team has been selected to finish seventh
in the 2002 Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference head coaches.
The Greyhounds received 17 points in the poll. Messiah College, which played for
the 2001 NCAA Division III National Championship, received all eight first place votes
for 64 points. Lebanon Valley College was second with 52 points while Elizabethtown
College was selected to finish third with 43 points, just one point ahead of fourth place
Susquehanna University.
Moravian, under the direction of second-year head coach Natalie Gozzard, returns five
starters and ten letterwinners from last year's 5-10 squad that won a pair of Commonwealth
matches for the first time in over three years.
The Greyhounds will open their 2002 campaign on Wednesday, September 4th in a non-conference
game versus the University of Scranton beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Moravian's Betty Prince
Field.
