THREE GREYHOUNDS NAMED TO COMMONWEALTH ALL-CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL SQUADS

ANNVILLE, PA --- Juniors setter Amy Lawrence (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic HS) and outside hitter Kim Zipf (Wyomissing, PA/Holy Name HS) of the Moravian College women’s volleyball team have been named to the 2002 Commonwealth All-Conference First Team while freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury HS) earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team as announced by the Middle Atlantic Corporation Thursday.

The trio helped the Greyhounds post a 26-10 record this season as Moravian earned its seventh straight postseason appearance, reaching the Commonwealth Conference Championship match for the seventh consecutive season. Moravian, which has won over 20 matches in each of the last seven seasons, also received the top seed in the 2002 Eastern College Athletic Conference South Championships for the second straight year before having its season ended in the ECAC title match.

Lawrence, who made the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year, broke her own school record for assists in a season with 1,423 assists this fall. Lawrence, who was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week twice during the season, also led the Greyhounds with 57 service aces, and she added 364 digs, 124 kills, a .309 hitting percentage and 29 blocks.

Zipf, who was named to the All-Conference First Team for the third straight year, led Moravian with 446 kills and 382 digs this season, and she became the fourth Moravian player to reach 1,000 career kills. Zipf, who was the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week three times this fall, also had a .303 hitting percentage, 22 service aces and 19 blocks.

Lawrence and Zipf were both named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team for the second straight season.

Siracusa had an outstanding debut season for the Greyhounds, leading the team with 92 blocks. Siracusa also contributed 391 kills, a .307 hitting percentage, 109 digs and 41 service aces.
