HUGHES & MORAVIAN BASKETBALL SQUADS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men’s and women’s basketball teams
are ranked in the top 15 in the country in team categories and junior guard Kim
Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is in the top ten individually in the ninth
release of the NCAA Division III basketball statistics for the 2002-03 season including
games through March 2nd.
Hughes is sixth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at
45.0 percent (54 of 120). Moravian, which is 20-7 on the season, is 12th in the nation
in free throw percentage at 74.8 percent (483 of 646).
The Moravian women will host the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championships
this weekend with games at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8th and the championship
at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9th.
The men’s squad, which finished the season at 16-11, is tied fourth in the country
in free throw percentage at 77.8 percent to begin the week. Moravian, which was the nation’s
leader in free throw percentage last season, has made 462of 594 attempts.
