THREE GREYHOUNDS, SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN NCAA STATS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College softball team and the Greyhounds
are ranked in the top 25 in the nation in the first NCAA Division III statistics release
of the season. The rankings are for games played through April 13th.
Sophomore shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) is tied
for seventh in the nation with a .500 batting average with 36 hits in 72 at-bats. Junior
third baseman Janelle Brey (Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS) was ranked 24th
in the country in runs batted in per game with an average of 1.13 RBIs per contest (27
RBIs in 24 games).
On the mound, freshman pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township
HS) is tenth in ERA at 0.72, and Hennessy is 18th in strikeouts
per seven innings with an average of 7.7 (85 strikeouts in 77 1/3 innings).
The Greyhound team is ranked 15th in the country in earned run average with a team ERA
of 1.11.
Moravian is 19-7 overall and 4-2 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Greyhounds will return to action
on Wednesday, April 16th in a Commonwealth doubleheader at Susquehanna University beginning at 3:00
p.m.
