MOORE NAMED ECAC DIVISION III CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK &
SCHERWIN HONORED AS CO-FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

CENTERVILLE, MA --- Junior Joe Moore (Andover, NJ/Newton HS) of the Moravian College men’s outdoor track and field team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Male Co-Track Athlete of the Week and junior Christina Scherwin (Denmark) of the Greyhounds’ women’s team was honored as the Female Co-Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Moore, a sprinter and jumper, was part of two school records set at the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette. He was second in the 200-meter dash in a school record time of 21.70, which provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Championships. Moore was also part of the 4x100 meter relay team that placed second and posted a school-record and NCAA provisional time of 41.91.

Scherwin won the shot put with a toss of 14.58 (47 feet, 10 inches) breaking her own school record, at the Widener University Invitational. The distance also automatically qualified Scherwin for the NCAA Championships. She posted a distance of 35.06 meters (115, ½ inch) in the discus, her first time competing in that event this season.

Scherwin will be participating in the Penn Relays this weekend as she tries to defend her title in the javelin. Moore will be competing in the long jump at the Penn Relays this week as well.
