BORTZ, HENNESSY & SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN NCAA STATS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two members of the Moravian College softball team and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 30 in the nation in the fifth NCAA Division III statistics release of the season. The rankings are for games played through Sunday, May 11th.

Sophomore shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) is fourth in the nation with a .500 batting average with 66 hits in 132 at-bats. On the mound, freshman pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) is 31st in ERA at 1.10 (allowing 23 earned runs in 146 innings of work) and 18th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 7.8 (163 strikeouts in 146 innings).

The Greyhound team is ranked 22nd in the country in earned run average with a team ERA of 1.32 (53 earned runs in 282 innings), and Moravian is tied for 27th in win-loss percentage at .780 (32-9) and 27th in fielding percentage at .961 (846 putouts, 299 assists and 46 errors).

Moravian, which completed the season at 32-10 overall, finished as the runner-up in the NCAA Division III Regional hosted by Ramapo College of New Jersey that concluded on Monday.
