MORAVIAN WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD PRESEASON FAVORITE IN MAC;
MEN SELECTED TO FINISH FOURTH

ANNVILLE, PA --- The 2002-03 Moravian College women’s indoor track and field team has been selected to finish first in the Middle Atlantic Conference again this year in a vote by the conference coaches while the Moravian men’s squad was picked fourth of the 11 schools that sponsor indoor track and field.

The Greyhound women, who had won the last seven MAC indoor championships, earned a total of 82 points and six of the eight first place votes to finish ten points ahead of Messiah College. Widener University was picked third with 68 points while Susquehanna University, the last team other than Moravian to win the MAC title back in 1995, was selected to finish fourth with 63 points. Messiah and Widener each had one first place vote.

The Moravian men, who captured the MAC indoor championship back in 1996, garnered 48 points to place behind Widener, which has won the last six titles and garnered six first place votes, with 73 points, Messiah with 68 points and a first place vote and Susquehanna with 60 points.

The Greyhound men and women competed once in December in a non-scoring meet at Lafayette College and the teams will return to action on Friday and Saturday, January 10th and 11th at the Bucknell University Gulden Relays.
