SHANNON NAMED TO NSCAA/ADIDAS ALL-REGION SQUAD
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior midfielder Tim Shannon (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley
HS) of the Moravian College men’s soccer team has been named to the 2002
National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III Men’s Mid-Atlantic
All-Region Third Team.
The Greyhounds completed the 2002 season with a 12-9-2 record as the squad made its third
straight trip to the Commonwealth Conference Playoffs and a second consecutive appearance
in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championships. Moravian upset Elizabethtown
College in the Commonwealth Semifinals, the first time the Greyhounds had defeated the
Blue Jays since 1970, before falling to Messiah College in the title contest, Moravian’s
first berth in the conference championship match since 1991. The Greyhounds reached the
ECAC Mid-Atlantic Semifinals for the second straight season.
Shannon, who was also an All-Conference First Team honoree a year ago,
was tied for third in scoring for Moravian this season with 14 points on five goals and
four assists. Shannon added one game-winning goal this fall, and he will
enter his senior season tied for 12th in school history in scoring with 58 points.
Shannon was also named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team
for the second straight season back in November and he was on the NSCAA/adidas Mid-Atlantic
All-Region Second Team in 2001.
