HUGHES & MORAVIAN BASKETBALL SQUADS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men’s and women’s basketball teams
are ranked in the top 30 in the country in team categories and junior guard Kim
Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is in the top ten individually in the sixth
release of the NCAA Division III basketball statistics for the 2002-03 season including
games through February 9th.
The men’s squad, which is 15-7 overall and 8-3 in the Commonwealth Conference on
the season, is ranked third in the country in free throw percentage at 78.4 percent to
begin the week. Moravian, which was the nation’s leader in free throw percentage
last season, has made 393 of 501 attempts.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, February 15th in a Commonwealth Conference
game at Widener University beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Hughes is seventh in the nation in three-point field goal percentage
at 44.0 percent (40 of 91). Moravian, which is 15-6 on the season and 6-4 in the Commonwealth
Conference, is 13th in the county in scoring offense, averaging 76.0 points per game, and
the squad is 28th in the nation in free throw percentage at 73.0 percent (382 of 523).
The Moravian women will return to action on Wednesday, February 12th when they travel
to Elizabethtown College in a Commonwealth Conference game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
