KATHLEEN MILLER NAMED WOMEN’S LACROSSE COACH AT MORAVIAN

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College has announced that Kathleen Miller will become just the second head women’s lacrosse coach in school history effective immediately.

Miller, who will be in charge of continuing to build the Greyhound women’s lacrosse program that completed its first-NCAA sanctioned season in 2003, will also serve as a faculty member in physical education, assistant women’s soccer coach and athletics budget manager.

“Kate brings a wealth of experience to our department, not only as a coach but as an administrator who truly understands the goals and ideals of an NCAA Division III program,” stated Paul R. Moyer, director of athletics, recreation and physical education at Moravian. “We are confident that with her knowledge and experience, Kate will develop our women’s lacrosse team into a very competitive program.”

Miller, a 1990 graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education, has spent the last ten years as a faculty member at Bryn Mawr College where she served as head women’s lacrosse coach for six seasons, head women’s soccer coach for ten seasons and assistant athletic director and senior women’s administrator for four years.

“I’m very excited to work with the new women’s lacrosse program at Moravian,” Miller said. “I think it will be a challenge to work with a one-year old program in a competitive environment, however we will continue to improve and become a contender within a few years. I’m also excited to be a part of an outstanding women’s soccer program and being at a higher competitive institution.”

Prior to her positions at Bryn Mawr, Miller worked in marketing and sales for Anaconda Sports for two years. While attending Temple, Miller was four-year letterwinner for the Owls’ women’s lacrosse team, earning First Team All-American honors as a senior in 1990 while leading Temple to an undefeated season and the NCAA Lacrosse Championship.

Miller also founded the women’s soccer club team at Temple, which is now an NCAA Division I program. She was also a USA Lacrosse Team member from 1990 to 1992, and Miller has played on several soccer club teams over the last 16 years. Miller served on the NCAA Soccer Rules and Regulations Committee for four years, and she also served on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Committees for Rules and Regulations and Community Service for three years.

Miller is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Education from DeSales University.
