MORAVIAN WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL SELECTED SECOND IN COMMONWEALTH
POLL
ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College women’s volleyball team has been selected
to finish second in the 2003 Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference
head coaches.
The Greyhounds, who have had seven straight 20-win seasons and seven consecutive postseason
appearances, received 54 points to finish ten points behind Juniata College, which had
64 points and all eight first place votes. Messiah College was third at 42 points followed
by Lebanon Valley with 41 points.
Moravian, under the direction of 11th-year head coach Shelley Bauder,
returns five starters and nine letterwinners from last year’s 26-10 squad that played
in the Commonwealth title match for the seventh straight season and made the school’s
second consecutive appearance in the ECAC South Championships.
The Greyhounds will open their 2003 campaign on Friday and Saturday, August 29th and
30th when they host the nine-team Greyhound Premiere Invitational.
