THREE GREYHOUNDS RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III FOOTBALL STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Junior punter John McLain (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere HS) and
senior defensive backs John Panikiewsky (Carteret, NJ/Carteret HS) and Nate
Pogue (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) of the Moravian College football team are ranked
in the first week of the 2003 NCAA Division III football statistics released Monday.
McLain is ranked 19th in the nation in punting with an average of 40.0
yards per punt on nine attempts. McLain has a long punt of 48 yards this
year and has placed two punts inside the 20-yard line.
Panikiewsky is tied for third in the country in passes defended with
3.0 per game while Pogue is tied for 24th in passes defended with 2.5
per contest. Panikiewsky has an interception and five pass break-ups this
season while Pogue has two interceptions and three other pass break-ups.
Moravian is 1-1 overall and in the Middle Atlantic Conference this season. The Greyhounds
will return to action on Saturday, September 20th in a MAC game at Susquehanna University
beginning at 1:30 p.m.
