BRIA NAMED TO CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT SOCCER SQUAD

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior midfielder Justina Bria (Warminster, PA/William Tennent HS) of the Moravian College women’s soccer team has been named to the 2003 CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division Women’s Soccer Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. The College Division is made up of all the NCAA Division II and III Schools in the nation as well as all NAIA schools. Student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools are named to the University Division Teams. District II is made up of schools from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

A total of 22 student-athletes from the district made the CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams with the 11 first-team members going onto the national ballot. The Middle Atlantic Corporation had a total of six student-athletes honored.

Bria, who made the Academic All-District Second Team for the season consecutive season, has helped the Greyhounds post a 10-3-4 record this season. Bria, who was also named to Commonwealth All-Conference Second Team this fall, has tallied three goals and two assists for eight points as the Greyhounds’ center-midfielder this season. Bria was a member of the All-Conference First Team in 2001 and the Second Team in 2000, 2002 and 2003, and she has scored 13 goals and 12 assists for 38 career points, seventh in school history.

Moravian reached the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals this year as the third seed in the tournament, falling to second seeded Lebanon Valley College, 1-0. The Greyhounds will find out on Monday, November 10th if the team qualifies for the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championships.
