MORAVIAN’S HENNESSY NAMED ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH PITCHER
OF THE WEEK
CENTERVILLE, MA --- Sophomore Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township
HS) of the Moravian College softball team was named the Eastern College Athletic
Conference Division III South Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday for her performance last
week.
Hennessy, who has earned the Pitcher of the Week honors four times from
the Commonwealth Conference this season, tossed three complete game shutouts with a no-hitter
last week to lead Moravian. Hennessy began the week with a five-inning,
no-hit shutout of Delaware Valley College in which she walked just one batter while striking
out nine. The no-hitter was the first of Hennessy’s collegiate career. Hennessy then
had a two-hit, one-walk shutout of Haverford College that included ten strikeouts. She
finished off the week with a one-hit, two walk shutout of Susquehanna University with six
strikeouts. Hennessy, who is now 14-0 on the year with eight shutouts,
also had one putout and eight assists in the field.
Moravian, the top ranked team in the nation, has won 29 consecutive games. The Greyhounds
are 29-1 overall and have clinched the top seed in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
Moravian will return to action on Thursday, April 22nd in a non-conference doubleheader
versus William Paterson (NJ) University beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Bethlehem.
