THREE GREYHOUNDS & MORAVIAN SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College softball team and the squad
itself are ranked in the fourth NCAA Division III statistics ranking of the season released
Wednesday.
Senior third baseman Janelle Brey (Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS) is 24th
in the nation in RBIs per game at 1.11. Junior shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown,
PA/Parkland HS) is 13th in batting average with a .510 average and 29th in runs
per game with an average of 1.11 while sophomore pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold,
NJ/Freehold Township HS) is ninth in saves at 3.0, 31st in earned run average
at 0.88 and 27th in victories at 17.0.
The Greyhounds are fourth in the country in winning percentage at .895, second in fielding
percentage at .974 and 27th in earned run average at 1.12.
Moravian, which has an overall record of 34-4 and is ranked seventh in the nation in
the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll, is scheduled
to return to action on Friday, May 7th as the top seed in the 2004 NCAA Regional being
hosted by Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, New Jersey. The Greyhounds will play
either fourth-seeded Union (NY) College or fifth-seeded the College of Staten Island at
2:00 p.m.
