LUCAS MALISHCHAK, KIM HUGHES & MORAVIAN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
SQUAD RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Senior guards Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) and Lucas
Malishchak (Wanamie, PA/Nanticoke HS) are ranked and the Moravian College women’s
basketball team is also ranked nationally in the third NCAA Division III basketball statistical
rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
Hughes, who has helped the Greyhounds to a 9-5 start to the season,
is ranked tenth in the country in free throw percentage at 89.8 percent (53 of 59).
The Moravian women are ranked 16th in the nation as a team in free throw percentage,
making 74.1 percent of their free throws (269 of 363). The Greyhounds have the best single
game performance of the season at the charity stripe this year and in the history of the
NCAA with a 35-for-35 performance versus Susquehanna University on December 7, 2003. Moravian
is also 49th in the nation in rebounding margin, out-rebounding its opponents by 6.1 rebounds
per contest.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday, January 21st when they travel to Albright
College for a Commonwealth Conference game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Malishchak is ranked 40th in the nation this week in steals per game
with an average of 2.6 steals per contest (39 steals in 15 games). Malishchak is
also ranked 50th in the country in assists per game with an average of 4.9 assists per
contest (73 assists in 15 games).
The Moravian men are 8-8 overall and will return to action on Saturday, January 24th
when the Greyhounds host the Messiah College in a Commonwealth Conference contest at 4:00
p.m. in Johnston Hall.
