KIM HUGHES & MORAVIAN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SQUAD CONTINUE
TO BE RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Senior guard Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is
ranked individually, and the Moravian College women’s basketball team is also ranked
nationally in the eighth NCAA Division III basketball statistical rankings released by
the NCAA on Wednesday.
Hughes, who has helped the Greyhounds to a 17-8 record this season,
is ranked 20th in the country in free throw percentage at 85.0 percent (68 of 80).
The Moravian women are ranked 14th in the nation as a team in free throw percentage,
making 73.8 percent of their free throws (482 of 653). The Greyhounds have the best single
game performance of the season at the charity stripe this year and in the history of the
NCAA with a 35-for-35 performance versus Susquehanna University on December 7, 2003. Moravian
has made 168 more free throws than its opponents this season, and the squad has made just
21 fewer free throws than it opponents have attempted this winter.
The Greyhounds are also ranked 44th in the country in rebounding margin with an average
of 6.0 more rebounds per game than their opponents. Moravian has 1,146 rebounds this season
while its opponents have grabbed 995 boards.
Moravian will host Lebanon Valley College in a Commonwealth Conference Semifinal on Wednesday,
February 25th beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
