WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL SELECTED FOURTH IN COMMONWEALTH POLL
ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian
College women’s volleyball team has been selected to finish fourth in the 2004
Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference head coaches.
The Greyhounds, who have
had eight straight 20-win seasons and eight consecutive postseason appearances, received
32 points while Juniata College, which had 49 points and seven first place votes, was
selected as the preseason favorite. Lebanon Valley College was second at 39 points and
a first place vote followed by Susquehanna University with 36 points.
Moravian, under the direction
of 12th-year head coach Shelley Bauder, returns two starters and four
letterwinners from last year’s 26-10 squad that played in the Commonwealth title
match for the eighth straight season and made the school’s third consecutive appearance
in the ECAC South Championships.
The Greyhounds will open
their 2004 campaign on Wednesday, September 1st in a non-conference match at DeSales
University.
