MORAVIAN’S
CUPPLES & GAUN HONORED COMMONWEALTH
FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER AND GOALIE OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior forward Stacee
Cupples (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) and sophomore goalie Amanda
Gaun (Hatboro-, PA/Hatboro-Horsham HS) of the Moravian College field hockey
team have been named the Commonwealth Conference Player and Goalie of the Week for
their performances last week.
Cupples tallied
three goals and an assist with two game-winning goals to lead Moravian to a 2-0 mark
last week. Cupples scored both goals in a 2-1 victory versus Gwynedd-Mercy
College and then added an overtime game-winning goal and an assist in a 3-2 overtime
win at FDU-Florham. Moravian is off to a 3-0 start, its best start since a school record
8-0 beginning to the 1992 season.
Gaun made
11 saves last week while leading Moravian to a pair of victories. Gaun had
five saves the victory versus Gwynedd-Mercy and then she added six saves including one
on a penalty stroke in the win at FDU-Florham.
Moravian is 3-0 overall this
season and is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 15th in a non-conference
match versus rival Muhlenberg College at 4:00 p.m. on Betty Prince Field in Bethlehem.
