GREYHOUNDS & TEAM RANKED IN THIRD NCAA FOOTBALL
STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2004
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two
different players from the Moravian College football team are ranked in four categories
in the third NCAA III Division football statistical ranking released Tuesday. The Greyhounds
are also listed in five team categories in the statistics through games of September
26th.
Sophomore tailback Chris
Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional HS) leads the nation in
rushing with an average of 204.0 yards per game, and he is tied for third in scoring
at 18.0 points per game and third in all purpose yards per game at 217.0. Jacoubs also
has the third highest (257 yards) and 12th highest (216) single game rushing yardage
this season among all NCAA Division III players. Junior defensive back Tyler
Chomik (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) is tied for 16th in passes
defended with an average of 2.0 per game.
As a team, Moravian is sixth
in rushing offense at 357.0 yards per game, 12th in turnover margin with a +2.33 per
game, 19th in scoring defense allowing just 11.0 points per game, 24th in rushing defense
at 79.0 yards per game, and 25th in total offense at 453.3 yards per game. Moravian also
has the 13th highest single game rushing yardage with 377 yards versus Susquehanna University
on September 18th.
The Greyhounds are 3-0 overall
this season and in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Moravian is scheduled to return to
action on Saturday, October 2nd in an MAC game versus King’s College at Steel Field
beginning at 1:00 p.m.
