GREYHOUNDS & TEAM RANKED IN FOURTH NCAA FOOTBALL
STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2004
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Four
different players from the Moravian College football team are ranked in seven categories
in the fourth NCAA III Division football statistical ranking released Tuesday. The Greyhounds
are also listed in three team categories in the statistics through games of October 2nd.
Sophomore tailback Chris
Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional HS) is second in the nation
in rushing with an average of 174.0 yards per game, and he is tied for tenth in scoring
at 13.5 points per game and seventh in all purpose yards per game at 183.8. Jacoubs
also has the third highest (257 yards) single game rushing yardage and sixth-best (273)
all-purpose single game yardage this season among all NCAA Division III players. Junior
defensive back Tyler Chomik (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) is
tied for tenth in passes defended with an average of 2.0 per game, and he is tied for
28th in interceptions with an average of 0.8 interceptions per game. Senior wide receiver Jed
Warsager (Andover, NJ/Newton HS) is sixth in the nation in kickoff returns
with an average return of 31.2 yards while senior linebacker Bill Carasia (Fair
Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven HS) is tied for the lead in the country in forced
fumbles with 1.0 per contest.
As a team, Moravian is 11th
in rushing offense at 299.5 yards per game, tied for 28th in turnover margin with a +1.50
per game and tied for 18th in scoring defense allowing just 12.8 points per game.
The Greyhounds are 4-0 overall
this season and in the Middle Atlantic Conference for the first time since the 1988 season.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 9th in an MAC game at
Wilkes University on Ralston Field in Wilkes-Barre beginning at 1:00 p.m.
