GREYHOUNDS & TEAM RANKED IN FIFTH NCAA
FOOTBALL STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2004
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Four
different players from the Moravian College football team are ranked in six categories
in the fifth NCAA III Division football statistical ranking released Tuesday. The Greyhounds
are also listed in three team categories in the statistics through games of October 9th.
Sophomore tailback Chris
Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional HS) is fourth in the nation
in rushing with an average of 172.0 yards per game, and he is tied for 12th in scoring
at 13.2 points per game and tenth in all purpose yards per game at 179.6. Jacoubs also
has the sixth highest (257 yards) single game rushing yardage and tenth-best (273 yards)
all-purpose single game yardage this season among all NCAA Division III players. Junior
defensive back Tyler Chomik (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) is
tied for 18th in passes defended with an average of 1.8 per game. Senior linebacker Bill
Carasia (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven HS) is fourth in the country in
forced fumbles with 0.75 per contest while senior punter John McLain (Belvidere,
NJ/Belvidere HS) is 22nd in the nation in punting with an average of 38.9
yards per punt.
As a team, Moravian is 11th
in rushing offense at 286.2 yards per game, tied for 18th in turnover margin with a +1.80
per game and 34th in scoring defense allowing just 15.6 points per game.
The Greyhounds are 5-0 overall
this season and in the Middle Atlantic Conference for the first time since the 1940 season.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 16th in an MAC game versus
FDU-Florham at Steel Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
