SIX GREYHOUNDS & TEAM RANKED IN EIGHTH NCAA FOOTBALL
STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2004

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Six different players from the Moravian College football team are ranked in nine categories in the eighth NCAA III Division football statistical ranking released Tuesday. The Greyhounds are also listed in two team categories in the statistics through games of October 30th.

Sophomore tailback Chris Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional HS) is sixth in the nation in rushing with an average of 160.9 yards per game, eighth in scoring at 12.8 points per game and 12th in all purpose yards per game at 173.4. Jacoubs also has the tenth highest (257 yards) single game rushing yardage and 15th best (273 yards) all-purpose single game yardage this season among all NCAA Division III players.

Senior linebacker Bill Carasia (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven HS) is tied for 13th in the country in forced fumbles with 0.43 per contest while junior defensive back Tyler Chomik (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) is tied for 18th in passes defended with 1.6 per game and tied for tenth in interceptions at 0.8 per game. Senior wide receiver Jed Warsager (Andover, NJ/Newton HS) is third in the nation in kickoff returns with an average of 32.7 yards per kickoff return while senior punter John McLain (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere HS) is currently 23rd in the nation with an average of 38.7 yards per punt. Junior quarterback Jerry Venturino (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong HS) is 33rd in the country in passing efficiency with a rating of 144.9.

As a team, Moravian is 26th in rushing offense at 248.9 yards per game and tied for 14th in turnover margin with a +1.40 per game.

The Greyhounds are 7-1 overall this season and in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Moravian began the season with a school record 7-0 start. Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, November 6th in its final MAC game of the season versus Albright College kicking off at 1:00 p.m. at Steel Field in Bethlehem.
