GREYHOUNDS & TEAM RANKED IN NINTH NCAA FOOTBALL
STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2004
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Six
different players from the Moravian College football team are ranked in nine categories
in the ninth NCAA III Division football statistical ranking released Tuesday. The Greyhounds
are also listed in three team categories in the statistics through games of November
6th.
Sophomore tailback Chris
Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional HS) is fifth in the nation
in rushing with an average of 169.4 yards per game, 12th in scoring at 11.3 points
per game and fourth in all purpose yards per game at 186.9. Jacoubs also has the 12th
highest (257 yards at Lebanon Valley College) single game rushing yardage and tenth
best (295 yards versus Albright College) all-purpose single game yardage this season
among all NCAA Division III players.
Senior linebacker Bill
Carasia (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven HS) is tied for 21st in the country
in forced fumbles with 0.38 per contest while junior defensive back Tyler Chomik
(Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) is tied for 35th in passes defended
with 1.4 per game and tied for 15th in interceptions at 0.7 per game. Senior wide receiver Jed
Warsager (Andover, NJ/Newton HS) is third in the nation in kickoff returns
with an average of 32.3 yards per kickoff return while senior punter John McLain
(Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere HS) is currently 27th in the nation with an average
of 38.5 yards per punt. Junior quarterback Jerry Venturino (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong
HS) is 28th in the country in passing efficiency with a rating of 144.0.
As a team, Moravian is 18th
in rushing offense at 256.0 yards per game, 28th in the nation in total offense at 428.0
yards per contest and tied for 23rd in turnover margin with a +1.11 per game.
The Greyhounds are 7-2 overall
this season and in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Moravian began the season with a school
record 7-0 start. Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, November 13th
in its final regular season game of the year versus rival Muhlenberg College kicking
off at 1:00 p.m. at Steel Field in Bethlehem.
