MORAVIAN’S HENNESSY NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
PITCHER OF THE WEEK FOR 3RD STRAIGHT WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third consecutive week for her performance last week.

Hennessy posted a 5-0 record last week including a 4-0 mark in Commonwealth Conference action, three shutouts and her third no-hitter of the season to help the Greyhounds post a 6-0 record last week. Moravian, ranked 18th in the nation in the 2005 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll released last week, has won 16 straight games and is now 22-3 overall and 6-0 in Commonwealth Conference action on the year.

Hennessy began the week with a 5-2 win versus Albright College that included eight strikeouts. In the second game of the doubleheader, Hennessy tossed her fourth career shutout, allowing just three walks while striking out seven batters. Hennessy allowed a run and four hits while striking out ten batters in a 4-1 win at Franklin & Marshall College. She finished the week with 12 innings of scoreless ball at Messiah College. Hennessy limited the Falcons to one hit and one walk while striking out eight batters in a 7-0 victory in the first game. She followed that with an 8-0, five-inning two-hitter in which Hennessy allowed two walks and struck out two. For the week, Hennessy allowed just 14 hits and seven walks in 33 innings of action. She had 35 strikeouts and added 11 assists in the field.

For the season, Hennessy is 15-2 with 2 saves and she has won 11 straight decisions. She has nine shutouts, three no-hitters, four on-hitters and has allowed just 51 hits, 32 walks, 16 runs and nine earned runs in 125 innings. Hennessy has also struck out 147 batters to raise her school record total to 479. Hennessy's three shutouts this week improve her school record total to 28 in her career, and she has a 53-12 career mark with five saves.

Hennessy has earned Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week honors four times this season, and two weeks ago she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southern Pitcher of the Week.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, April 14th in a non-conference doubleheader versus Delaware Valley College in Bethlehem beginning at 3:00 p.m.
