MORAVIAN WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO 8TH IN NSCAA MID-ATLANTIC REGION POLL

MISSION, KS --- The Moravian College women’s soccer team dropped three spots to eighth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Mid-Atlantic Regional poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who are 15-4-1 on the season, was fifth in the region last week and received their highest-ever regional ranking two weeks ago in fourth place after not being ranked the previous week due to a paperwork error. Moravian was ranked sixth in the region the three previous weeks after debuting in the fifth spot in the second poll of the year, which had been Moravian’s highest-ever regional ranking.

Messiah College sits atop the region and the nation with a 16-0 record, and the Falcons are followed by The College of New Jersey (16-0), Rowan (NJ) University (15-1-1), Dickinson College (13-1-3), the University of Mary Washington (11-3-1), Catholic University (15-0-2), Johns Hopkins University (14-3-1) and the Greyhounds. Rounding out the top ten after Moravian are Haverford College (14-3-1) and Drew University (12-4).

The Greyhounds defeated Mary Washington, 2-0, on September 11th, and Drew, 2-1 in double overtime on September 3rd, and lost to Haverford College 1-0, on October 5th and Messiah College, 3-1, on October 15th.

The Greyhounds, who defeated Elizabethtown College, 1-0, in a Commonwealth Conference Semifinal on Tuesday, will return to action on Saturday, November 5th in the 2005 Commonwealth Conference Championship match at a site and time to be determined.
